they all have built in WiFi. cnIsfg said:ph1nn said:@Phonger How good is PS3 has a media center? I'd say PS3 is the best media center there is. It plays Blu-ray movies (with profile 2.0 support), DVD up-coverting, supports DIVX/XVID playback, can stream videos/pics/music with visualizations (there are a ton of free UPNP servers out, I use fuppes), web browser with flash support, runs extremely quiet, has built in WiFi and has HDMI 1.3 output. Also you can buy a Bluetooth remote if you don't like using the wireless controller for everything. And unlike the Xbox will never RROD.
And of course it has a ton of great game games to play with free online gaming unlike it's competitor. I love my PS3.
Since when does ANY PS3 model other than the original 60GB have built-in WiFi? Also if you actually believe the PS3 is extremely quiet you are nuts. If anything the newer PS3s are much louder than the older ones. The original 60GB is by far the quietest (assuming you don't have a defective fan) PS3 model produced to date and it by no means "extremely quiet". The fan in the original PS3 ran at the same RPM rate the entire time the system is one regardless of what activity the PS3 was performing. The newest generation PS3s (the ones like the year old 40GB with no PS2 compatibility) are MUCH louder than the original CH01 series even though they draw less power and produce less heat. The reason is that the fans in these newer PS3 are just like the ones in your PC and run at RPMS according to the load it is processing. This is unfortunate because the heaviest load in terms of system demand a PS3 does is decode Blu-Ray movies. It is ironic that for the times you want your PS3 make the least noise the PS3 fan runs the loudest. If fan noise is not a problem then the PS3 is certainly top notch Blu-Ray player and you noted above. |

buyus said:I was about to jump on 40 GB back in June when wally world gave a $100 GC and the Sony card offer for $100 off. that would make $200 off of PS3 and not $150 off as of today. but I think the price of PS3 was higher in june. so either the old one or this one are more or less same.
I applied for the card and paid Dr. bill and got the credit. Please clarify your statement. Did you apply for this deal and pay your Doctor bill and get the $150 credit, or were you using the old deal with the $100 off anything, of which your Doctor bill would qualify? The way your worded your statement is very confusing, taking into consideration that the terms of this deal states you need to make the qualifying purchase at the SonyStyle website. |

Pulled the trigger on this and signed up for the card. Waiting to see what Amazon is offering tonight although I doubt it will be better than $150 off with the reward points deal too. We have 3 months to buy the system though--doesn't need to be today right? |

I opened a Sony credit card about six months ago for another deal, but never made the purchase. Can I still get the $150 off for my first purchase since this would be my first purchase on the card? |

The 45 days pertain to getting interest free for 12 months. |

Did anyone not get instantly approved? I didn't get instantly approved and was wondering how long it takes for them to give you an answer. Thanks. |

I don't think so because they put a flag/code in your account if you sign up during a particular promotion. I know this because I signed up during the $100 promotion and asked them if I would qualify for the $150 promotion. The answer was no. So I asked my wife to sign up. |

I was going to do the same but could not justify the extra $100 for what's essentially a card reader, 2 usb ports and MGS4 which can be had used for around $30. Picking up the new 80 as soon as the PS store near me gets it. Does anyone know if they're still doing that double and triple rewards deal with SonyRewards? |

I signed up for the card and placed an order early Saturday. Does anyone know how long they expect the backorder to be? I called, but they couldn't give me any kind of timeframe. I might hit the local Sony store and pick one up, if the card would hurry up and get to my mailbox. I wasn't in any hurry when I placed the order, but now I've picked up a few games and I'm itchin to play Oh, looks like the MGS4 bundle is no more. The 80gb $399 system is the only one showing up on the SonyStyle online store today. |

I was not instantly approved for the credit card. Does anyone know about how long it typically takes for them to get back to me? I know the screen said 30 days, but does it really take 30 full days? |

The 80 GB is now on BACKORDER. I have no idea whether it works to try and do the deal with a backorder that won't be charged until item ships (according to the site). Looks like it would have to ship within 45 days to work. Since it is valid in store as well, I wonder if I can use the number they give me to buy it locally in KC when I am up there this weekend? Guess I will call and see what they say at the store. |

Anyone have this card and the one from Amazon (with $30 off first purchase)? According to the terms: ...If applicable, Chase cardmembers who currently have or have had a Chase credit card in any Rewards Program associated with this offer or have received a similar bonus offer, may not be eligible for a second Chase credit card in the same Rewards Program, or for any bonus offer. Chase cardmembers currently receiving promotional pricing, or Chase cardmembers with a history of only using their current or prior Chase card for promotional pricing offers, are not eligible for a second Chase credit card with promotional pricing. Don't want to ding my credit or buy anything if I don't get the $150 back. |

I got in on this yesterday and as the poster above said I wasn't in a hurry for it until I bought some Blu Ray movies and a couple of games now I'm itching for it. Too bad the "local" Sony Store is a couple hundred miles away. I find it hard to understand how Sony is backordered on their own product yet I can go to Amazon or other online etailers and they have plenty of inventory. |

Question: If you close your card after you get the statement credit of $150, do they give you the $150 back or do you just lose it? From what it sounds like, you don't get to apply to this directly your first purchase. I will try calling the Sony hot line 866-422-6566 and confirming (they are only open till 6PM EST), but does anyone know? Update ***8/29/08, 242PST***
The statement credit will refunded if you never purchase anything again and you close out the account. Your best bet is to call the hotline, get them to approve you and have them send you the card overnight. I told them I wanted to make a purchase this weekend and they will send it for Monday delivery. Then- go to the Sony store instead of waiting for it to show online (if possible) |
