So $189 is not a good price for Signature Gold Suits? Wonder why someone give red....

check out THIS thread, and in particular, a great post about half way down the page. It's regarding the quality of these suits and some tips from FW member, 12345Michael54321. Very informative.

The only problem is these deep discounted signature gold suits are never in sold navy/dark grey. Otherwise I would definitely go for it.

The had to be one of the most informative posts I've seen in a long time. For you lazy people here is a direct link to the mentioned post. Summary at $189 they are a good price for a suit but they are no where close to being worth the regular price of $995 they mentioned.

So based on what I am hearing, few mentioned this is good price. And that informative post also said this price is pretty much the best you can get for Signature Gold suit. And just one month ago, a deal $50 more was considered good price.
But I guess there are too many Suits deals posted recently that people are more reserved of giving green to Suit deals? Or there is something wrong with the deal other than limited style and color? So now actually only got red (and no green at this point) for good price. I guess this will kind of discourage people posting deal on Suits(especially Jos A. Bank Signature Gold suit) in the future.

Not knocking your post, but I think the previous post had more suits with more variety. If I'm not mistaken, I think you're posting the "what's left" sale.

The price is okay. But brown plaid, olive plaid, and blue/black plaid aren't exactly the suits most men can use in the widest variety of settings. Those would typically be charcoal, navy, and navy pinstripe. And those Sig Gold suits NEVER go on sale for $200.

If you already have the wardrobe Staples covered, and for some reason you're jonesing for a brown windowpane plaid suit, then this isn't a bad deal. Assuming they have it in your size - only a few sizes are available (for which I don't fault JAB, since this is a clearance sale).

Just don't delude yourself into believing that you're getting a $1000 suit.

Eliu91, I think you're right, this is clearly a "what's left" sale, but I can't remember if/at what price the previous sale had Signature Gold 2-Button Superfine Wool Suit's. Personally, if I was looking to add another suit, those would be the ones I'd look for now. They run about $40 more than the $199 suits the OP mentions, but you can get them in a much better color choices.

For example: Signature Gold 2-Button Superfine Wool Suit

OP, I still think it's a good post, especially for those that missed the sale last week. I wonder how these compare to Macy's high-end house brand, Tasso Elba? Those are mighty fine suits and you could pick up two for $249 last week.

This is disappointing. I was looking for something along the line of THIS.

that was lame.

I've read mixed things about them (Elba), so I can't draw a bead on whether or not that's a good brand to keep an eye on for any possible future deals (indecision kept me from jumping in on the Macys deal). Nothing I've read, however, suggests that Tessa Elba is a "high-end" house brand, unless you only mean "high end" in relation to all the other suits they sell?

Maybe numerically inclined/declined member Micheal could chime in here. Better yet, start your own thread and give us the complete rundown, ala "cycloneman" in the vacuum deal threads.

Actually, it looks to be lame'. (yes, the accent mark should be right over the e, but I am on my laptop and cannot do it)

I'm no good with those fancy exotic character keys either.

Perhaps that is a better way of stating it. My understanding is that Tasso Elba is Macy's house brand and that, compared to most of the suits they sell, it represents their higher end.

Anyway, I'll see soon as I ordered two RLs and two TEs intending to return whichever I like least ...

Okay, I can't resist a challenge.

Lamé.

(In ascii, the "é" character is Alt-130.)

Nice, but I really don't think you should encourage him ...

Hey, if a gold lamé tuxedo was good enough for Liberace, I can't see any reason why I shouldn't wear it when addressing the World Bank.
