Earlier today, I stopped by my local OD store in College Point, NY. A friendly Caucasian (sorry, I forgot to ask for his name) sales associate said that by placing a special order via the in-store kiosk, you can slash the site's $899.99 AR price to $549.99 AR. He was pretty reticent, but told me that it is a special promotion OD is having now. I got the impression, from our conversation, that this is a loss leader and OD didnt want many customers in on this. In other words, OD wanted to keep hush on the deal.

For God's sake, don't go to a store and tell them you want "the deal you heard about on FW"!
My friend, Adam, got in on this deal for $550 AR. The employee has to place the order for you to get the savings. At least that's what he told me.

Step 1 go to the store. Step 2 go to kiosk. Step 3 ??? Step 4 pay 549.99.
I need step 3
Well, I'd follow these steps: 1) Call OD ONLY to find out how many dv2940se's are still available. I found out that SE stands for special edition so there might not be a whole lot of them available, but still plenty for us FWers. Like Airtommy said, DO NOT mention anything about FW to them or the associates might lie and say theyre all sold out. 2) If its available, go to your local OD. 3) Ask associate to order laptop in kiosk. 4) Pay $700 at checkout, preferably using a cc. 5) Fill out $150 rebate form and wait for the check to arrive at your home.

I just called in to a local store who said they had three in stock but that the price is 799 not 700.
Bought one today but never saw this forum until now. They are listed for like $900 but you get $50 instant savings then $200 in mail in rebates where the price ends up being $650 +tax total. Even at $650 you cant find many laptops at this level for that price you just gotta wait on the rebates. Be ready to pay $849+tax at checkout if you want one. I been using it all day and its pretty badazz.

I saw this a couple days ago and asked in store about the price before seeing this thread. The price listed is with a bunch of crap bundled with it. I asked what the price was for just the laptop. The clerk looked it up and said 550 after the rebate. I passed as I am not sure I want this.
