I always thought McAfee pretty much lagged behind Norton but the CNET review says:

"The bottom line: McAfee Internet Security 2008 trounces Norton Internet Security 2008, offering a better designed product with more security tools."

Trounces Norton? That's a shocker. So McAfee have cleaned up their act and made a decent product for a change?

The user reviews at CNET still look poor though: 4.6/10. The CNET review rates it: 7.3/10

Norton Internet Security 2008: User reviews 5.8/10, CNET review: 6.8/10.

The latest Consumer Reports (September 2008) essentially says the same thing. McAfee and BitDefender (I think) came out on top in the ratings of leading Internet Security Suites. I think Norton is riding the coattails of its prior successes, innovativeness, prominence and certainly its name recognition. Its products, although not terrible, have been rather lackluster and mediocre performance-wise lately. We'll see what the new '09 lineup does to change that.

$4.26 for taxes in So Cal for me, still a good deal. Now at tax timie I can qualify for Upgrade Rebates
