Not too bad, but don't think it's a hot deal. ![]()
Point me to a hotter deal on a wireless G pci card? I need to order 3 of them.
AirPace WIfi Card is $26 free ship at ewiz, and the antenna is not stuck behind your metal/plastic case. Plus it is PCIE 1x.... so you actually can use the open slot!
Guys is D-Link good? I need card but I don't want to buy garbage. Any ideas? Thanks

D-Link makes solid wireless gear. Of the mass-market biggies, I like Linksys best but would put D-link in the running for second. Way better than say Trendnet (generally).

Way better than say Trendnet (generally).Well, if you're not willing to consider lesser-known brands then it looks like you've found your deal. Linksys generally makes good stuff, sure, but I wouldn't rank D-Link above even Trendnet. I've had both a D-Link router and card that couldn't maintain a reliable signal, while, alternatively, I'm connected right now through a CompUSA brand MIMO router (made by Sparklan, which most people have never heard of) that I have had to reset exactly three times in two years. I've also installed three cheap-o Zyxel routers for friends over the last couple of years which are rock solid, despite the fact that most people wouldn't put Zyxel in the top tier of wireless manufacturers.
This stuff is largely manufactured in Third World countries with dirt cheap electronics. You either get a dud or you don't, IMO. Given that -- and having had experience with about a dozen brands of wireless stuff -- 20 AR for a regular G adapter, regardless of manufacturer (with the possible exception of Linksys) is only fair, not hot.
ironman69 said:Point me to a hotter deal on a wireless G pci card? I need to order 3 of them.Just because this isn't a hot deal doesn't mean there is necessarily a better deal right now. Being a good price is far and wide different from a Hot Deal. There might not be a better price right now, but that's just because by their very nature, real Hot Deals usually don't last.
That being said, I took a couple minutes looking at Newegg and there are a few other PCI network cards about the same price, two of them cheaper.
Trendnet for around $15.30 shipped after $10 rebate
TP-Link for around $22.30 shipped, no rebate hassles.
and another
Trendnet for around $18 shipped, after $10 rebate
They weren't hard to find, just because the price (~$20 AR) isn't that hot. Just okay.
PS. Would rank D-Link on low end of the big consumer network devices, but that's just from problems I've had with the brand, not actual comparisons though I've used many different brands. (D-Link < Linksys < Netgear)

Also, this card at Newegg, think it just came back into stock, didn't see it before
Rosewill for $15 shipped.
EDIT: Rosewill card back out of stock. ![]()
EDIT2: Back in stock again. Must not be very many to be in and out and in again so quickly.
Someone else mentioned buying a slightly better external antenna for this or other PCI type NIC. Better dBi and only $7 shipped from Meritline.

Danzilla said:Bad linkOops, sorry about that. Search url is useless. Try starting here and then you can restrict it to PCI cards towards the bottom. Several are quite cheap AR.
Mwave has CPTechnologies wireless g PCI/USB adapters for $3-$5 AR. Shipping hurts if you're just getting 1 at ~$8, but for 3 it's like $11. I didn't read the rebates as I don't need a wireless adapter right now, but they've got 2 different USB models as well as the PCI, so you could get 3 different ones and qualify for all rebates. $26 AR for 3 = ~60% cheaper than your solution
For a D-link this is a great deal people, even if its just for the sticker.
If it provides any peace of mind, ironman69, I bought 3 D-link wireless PCI cards last year and they still work great (after rebate, of course). I actually bought this item on Sunday night but thought it wasn't a good enough deal to post on FW--Guess I was mistaken. But, I needed to order a PCI card for a client and I opted for this over the Trendnet also on sale (I have those, too but they seem less reliable).
Points for Newegg though, had shipping info to my e-mail within 1.5 hours on a Sunday night!

Thanks Heedman. Given the red I am getting, I guess you were right. Should have passed on posting this one ![]()

This was not there earlier and looks promising. I was reading some wireless forums and they had some good things to say about Rosewill and nothing good to say about Trendnet (with the exception being their new N router). May get one of these. Thanks Danzilla!
