Your XM subscription must be activated with a credit card no later than 10/9/08. You must retain that credit card, or another valid credit card, on account for automatic future service billing and maintain uninterrupted service for at least six months.

First question, why all the red for the OP? What am I missing, 'cause I don't see any commentary to reflect that response.

Second question, is the rebate valid if this is a second/third/etc. radio on the same account. IOW, can you take advantage of the discounted secondary radio subscription with this deal?

Thanks,

A

If the unit suits your needs and you don't mind paying $12.95/month for min of 6-months then its not a bad deal. I personally don't like FM mod units.

Most people are getting their initial XM (thanks to a long standing FW thread) for $77/year, and $65/year for using credit card billing.

I see some good questions but the answers don't clear the China smog.

What I should consider to be foremost is whether or not with this on again-off again merger with
Sirus will there even be a XM in a month or so????? I have a lot of respect for Crutchfield,
even though I can always beat their prices at Vanns or elsewhere....so I called them. The person
said he could not give me a solid answer to the merger question.... or whether one account could
be used for two receivers...... or whether my old inactive mess of XM stuff could ber activated now.

He apologized for lack of information which is what has earned his store the rep it has.

I called XM and it was as bad as the outsourced whoever I got two years ago.....at which time it got
to the point if I heard a foreign voice I just gave up for the day. Two weeks it took to get the
thing activated and then the signal was so erratic at times I would lay it aside for a month and then
see if it was better.

So I will wait and see what happens to others. The FCC finally approved the merger... and allegedly
that was all the was holding things up a year or so ago.

FYI your mileage may vary all over the universe before it is a sure thing.

If I already have a receiver signed up with XM, can I get this unit? My account is prepaid for 6 months. Id like the record function. Is the rebate good for existing customers?

I bought one of these a few days ago and I'm very pleased with it.

the FM issue..mine works using FM very well, but it also has line-out so it doesn't require using FM.

the rebate requires 6 months of service, I signed up using a code that gives 3 months free, so hopefully I'll only have to pay for 3 of those 6 months. I also expect there will be some new lower cost plans in the next few months.

I'm not concerned about the merger, xm will be around for a long time. No way is the new combined company going to do anything to alienate their current customers. They can't afford to lose subscribers.

Yes, the merger is approved. Supposedly both systems will co-exist under the Sirius XM name. From what I understand, in Q1 of 2009 there will be a receiver that can get both services' feeds (will cost something like $5-$10 more than the subscription to just one service).

XM radios will continue to get XM Radio and Sirius will get Sirius radio. From my understanding of the whole agreement with the FCC, they will be required continue broadcasting both services independently 'forever'. If they didn't, cars that came with factory XM radios would suddenly become obsolete, and I don't think they'd want to alienate a large portion of their customer base!

I think the main problem with the red is should say min 6 month subscription required. That'll stop more red, i think.

I have XM in my car. Since I car pool to work, I don't use it often. I called and try to cancel it. The representative offered me the $5 a month for 3 months. This is what I am paying now with a promotion. If I can get this price, I will probably keep it.

Beware ... FM mod is not as good as it used to be. They're way underpowered now so expect to have to tap into the antenna plug behind your radio, or run the wire outside to snap onto the antenna.

FM mods have always worked that way.

How does the $65/year credit card billing offer work. I have used the $77/year before, but have not heard of the $65/year.
