I have an older HP Photosmart 945 that shoots spectacular 5MP images. Do you think these would be good for 11x14 ? If not, I will have to make do with my 6MP images from my Powershot S3. Anyways, thanks, OPHere's a list found online that correlates megapixels to print size (at 300dpi). These numbers look a little rough, but I went through an example to calculate your resolution/print size below which is apparently more accurate...

* 2 megapixels = 1200 by 1600 pixels = 4 by 5.3 inches
* 3 megapixels = 1536 by 2048 pixels = 5 by 7 inches
* 6 megapixels = 2400 by 3000 pixels = 6.5 by 10 inches
* 10 megapixels = 2592 by 3872 pixels = 8.5 by 13 inches
* 12 megapixels = 4368 by 2912 pixels = 9.7 by 14.5 inches

To use your 6 megapixel camera as an example, your resulting photo's pixel dimensions are probably 2400x3000 so if you take the shorter side of your photo and divide that by your desired level of print resolution (say 300dpi) you get 2400/300 which yields a print at 8 inches (short side). In a similar fashion, you can calculate the print resolution by dividing the pixel dimensions by the image size (in inches) so 2400px/11in which yields a print resolution of 218 dpi. Fortunately, a print at this size need not be printed at the very highest photo quality resolution to look great, 218 dpi is about magazine level resolution. Odds are you won't be right up close to a print like this so viewing distance probably doesn't warrant the highest possible resolution.

On another note, "Rezzing Up" your image (turning up the resolution in a program like photoshop) will do NOTHING for your image quality. It WILL needlessly bloat your file size and blur your details. Having worked for a digital print shop for several years, we were never able to drive that fact home with many people. Yes there are many fractal algorithm using applications out there to attempt to interpolate image information (genuine fractals), and they may actually do more good than harm, but your average joe knows nothing of these programs so we only rarely saw them in use.

Adorama processed photo's come out great. Will definitely get some prepaids on this deal. Now to wait for 5x7 and 8x10 to go on sale too

EDIT: their online tool will assess your picture resolution when you upload them. It will tell you on a scale if the pic resolution is good for the size of the photo so you can judge for yourself before you click to submit the purchase. I shoot in RAW, Photoshop (if needed), save as uncompressed TIFF to Adorama.

Try sending a Level 10 Jpeg sized to the final print and saved fresh from your TIFF file.
This is the way alot of PRO labs have their clients upload images if you use an FTP upload. If you tried sending 100 tiff files it would take forever even on a Cable line.
My labs have both tested TIFF against a fresh Level 10 Jpeg and have found NO difference in the final prints and it keeps their systems moving.

Great deal on the 11x14's. We are ordering several sample 16x20's and bigger from Adorama as part of the poster print sale. Now I may have to preorder some 11x14's

Wineaux said:The metallic paper for color looks amazing. Colors just pop! Adorama does a really good job. Highly recommended.

If you go for the metalic, be aware of your color range. Prints on it look great, but if you have too much "unintentional pure white" (i.e. blown highlights) in it, prints look kinda crappy. You can get away with a bit sloppier photos on different paper.

Deal expires today - If you want paper samples before you make prints, you can email ingridspangler@adoramapix.com requesting some. You can say you saw her offer on the fredmiranda forums. Normally metallic is about a buck a print extra, so if you're thinking of doing a pre-order, go for that paper.

BTW... if anyone gets the ms live CashBack, can you post here? I suspect I won't see a penny, but went for it anyways. 7% on $500 wouldn't be terrible.
