$10 for a small steak and 2 sides (their sides are decent size) and the bread is pretty good. Probably add $2 for a soda and can come out under $15 with tip. Pretty good price for a good meal.
A typical sirloin as you'd buy at a grocery store is about an 8-10oz portion, so it's about 25% less than would be expected. For $9.99 with two sides, it's a pretty good deal seeing that sirloins, not on sale, typically sell for $8-9/lb. That's about $4 of meat on your plate before you even add on the sides and the cost of having people prepare it for you. Granted, I'm a FW'er and I stock up for $2.99/$3.99/lb sirloins at Albertsons when they're on sale. The meat quality kinda sucks; however, that's nothing that the backside of a clever and some marinade can't solve. $9.99 makes a nice night out, though.
Kudos to Outback for having a steak on the menu that is *almost* an appropriate portion size! I'd even think about going there now! I been carrying around that card for a free blooming onion for a couple years now.
The Outback Sirloin Special was 12 oz. for years. That was $12.99 with salad and one side. This is a very small portion. This is $3 less for HALF the steak.

Am I the only FW person who orders a large water with lemon and adds sugar to it when the staff isn't looking? I actually use splenda...we don't ever buy a soda. If we drink them they are at home and there we usually drink iced tea. If you do this, you'll reduce your eating out by $10 each time.
I started just having water with meals over 20 years ago. It's not just the inflated cost of a beverage relative to the price of the food, but also check the calories in most soft drinks. Two glasses of Coke or 7up can add 300 calories to your meal. If I'm going to consume the calories, I want to use them for something good!

I'm right there with you. But, why care if they are looking? Do you have to sneak around when getting extra napkins? How about doubling up on salt and pepper over an average user? Do you use ketchup on non-traditional foods? Until they start rationing sugar packets, what does it matter? It just shows you can deal with the tepid tap water they serve and use readily available additives to make it more bearable.
