2008 BMW X5 3.0 $1500 or more under invoice

This has been available for a while, but most folks aren't aware of it.

BMW is offering a free Premium Package on the 2008 X5 3.0. That is a $2505 option that is on nearly every X5 3.0. With high gas prices, dealers have been unloading X5s for close to invoice without the $2505. So -- on a typical X5 you can get $5000 or more off MSRP.

Example:

2008 X5 3.0 with Premium Package, Cold Weather Package, and Rear Climate Package

MSRP $51,675
Invoice $47,565

At 1K over invoice price would be $48,565 - $2,505 = $46,060 or over $5600 off MSRP plus 0.9%.

The 2008 X5 4.8 has a $1200 discount available, not as good as the 3.0.

This CAN be combined with the 0.9%/5 years financing from BMW, good through 9/2/2008.

Actually if you check the local used market, you may find pretty clean ones for more than $10K below the KBB value. I almost got a 2006 x5 3.0 with ~20K miles for $27K (KBB around $37K). You can find all sorts of deals on SUVs nowadays.

If you have 50k to drop on a luxury car, then gas prices are not on your worry list.

c'mon, that assumption is so not true. gas prices affects everyone no matter what your salary.

besides more people now buy cars at the 40-50k price tag, even if they barely can afford it, especially in a car culture state like California, where 5ok beamers are not that big of a deal. Believe i or not, rich people can be some of the cheapest stingiest people there is. They didn't become "rich" by being careless with money.

Oh, the deal was actually there at a dealer. I just decided not to get it. There are a ton of lease return high end cars/SUVs on the market. Very well taken care of, still under full factory warranty, maintenance also included in case of BMW.

I completely agree there. I don't even pay for gas (my company does) and I hate paying near $4 for it a gallon That's more than a gallon of milk cost!

same here, I have a 2005 x5 3.0 and I am original owner. Is the extended warranty worth? What does it cover? How much is the regular oil change?

seriously just lease bmw's. it makes sense. with safeguard and safelease you end up paying for gas. the rest is handled. bmw assist check(their on-star), roadside check, all service check. gas and go. you know its an expensive car and even with the 0.9% and free automatic (on 3'ers) you end up with a very expensive fashionable car after 36 to 48 months (4/48k warranty)..

if you buy it you (duh $50K car) buy the extended warranty, pay more tax (on entire sale price), pay for maintenance to not lose the extended warranty you just bought, pay for bmw assist (on-star), warez or pay for new navigation software (the new CCC is hard disk based no more iso's!).

You know the dodge dealer charges $65/hour for service. The local bmw dealer is $135/hr LABOR only.

call me crazy but the numbers and odds seem tilted against buying their cars and keeping them for a long time.

And remember alot of the 3.0 (non turbo) moved away from the ZF (german) automatic to the GM (chevy) transmission. google bmw GM transmissin and find thousands of posts about the junk. sorry man but i'm not rocking out a 50K bmw with a GM tranny in it. They can pony up a ZF tranny if you expect it to live.

i've leased two already and crunched numbers. bmw inflates their residual to keep payments reasonable but if you look at the resale value its about 8-10% lower than their residuals lately and bmw just core dumped ALOT of write offs in the past year due to currency ($$) devaluation. So they are trying to make it up in services as in charging you more to operate your car.

Quick question...where did you find this deal? I'm currently looking for a Toyota 4Runner (or a similarly capable SUV)but have had difficulty finding GREAT deals! The dealer is willing to give about 5k off MSRP...but on the fully loaded 4WD versions, that still puts me above 30k....any advice would be great.

I had a 2003 4runner V8 (Same as current model) and would buy another, but the current Nissan deals make them about $5K cheaper than 4runners.

This is only true for two groups of people:
- people that are focused on monthly payments and not long term cost of transportation
- people that like to switch cars

Out of the people that like to switch cars, most buy crappy cars that they quickly get sick of (I am guilty as charged ).
This is why I have decided to buy myself a good luxury vehicle that I will keep for a long time.

I had an X5 and it was the biggest piece of junk....in the shop every other month for the first year. BMW told me to go pound sand when I complained!!!! I will never own another!
