I got this last time Frys had it for $1,599. No tax and free delivery to NY, which is especially nice since NY passed a law that requires most websites to collect sales tax in NY. Frys is one of the few that still don't.
It seems like you have to add it to your cart to see the $1599 price. Thanks OP I am helping a friend get a TV and he is considering this one. It was $1699 earlier this afternoon.
Not trying to thread crap, but my friend was looking at the 550 for $1599 and after looking at it again at Frys we wandered into Circuit City who had the 550 and 650 next to each other. the 650 has more contrast (I think 30000/1 vs 20000/1)(insert your "they might have been set up differently comment here") and has 120hz vs. 60. The 750 is even more spectacular with a 50000/1 contrast ratio. It is a very noticeable difference. Thought you might want to check them out in person. By the way, Fry's San Marcos had the 550 for 1599 yesterday, today the 21st it was tagged on the floor at 2199.

Of course it's a noticeable difference, the 650 and 750 cost substantially more money.
The 650 sells for $2,299 + shipping - which comes out to an almost 50% price differential - The 750 sells for over $1,100 more.
For the price, this is by far the best value in 52" LCDs. If your looking to spend over $2,000 - there are definitely several models which are better quality in that price range.

It is a very noticeable difference. The 650 and 750 have identical contrast--in fact, they have essentially identical pictures all around as far as I know. The 750 has more uppity features, though, many of which most people would probably never use. The 750 also has a more ritzy, Bravia-like bezel, which some have actually found a distraction because in darkened rooms its clear edges can throw off a glint.
If you go through live.com, you can pick up a 650 from Adorama for $2063 shipped (the 750 is $2350 shipped). If you click-thru to Butterfly Photo from live.com, the 550 ends up being $1519.70 shipped after the kickback from Microsoft.
Also, HDGuru is predicting another round of flat-panel price cuts from most manufacturers around August 24. And a securities analyst sees even more significant cuts coming in October.
I found the Samsung LN52A750 for around $1990+shipping at this link when I was searching around for prices. However, I did not purchase the TV. Here's the link http://www.prestigecamera.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ID=9959542&l=Everyprice

could you explain how to get the live.com discount?
Jumped in the Costco's 52in Philips this week. Not too happy with its speakers. The 120Hz doesn't seem to impress me either. This one with free shipping and no tax in NY, ordered one right away. It's almost $400 cheaper. Amazon is selling this for $1799. No way I can find a reputable retailer at this price. Hope the speakers will be better too. No need to get the Philips back to Costco.
Thanks OP. I bought it with AMEX. If the price does drop within 60 days, I'm still protected.

could you explain how to get the live.com discount?Go here and click on the "Go to Store" button that you want. It's pretty much self-explanatory from there. Enter your email address and the requested code. You'll get a momentary screen saying, " Your cash-back is active," etc., then you'll be directed to the store's website. You must complete the order from the browser window that Live Search opens on your computer, and it must be completed within sixty minutes. Don't use coupons to further discount your purchase, as that will nullify your Live Search kickback (if you have a coupon that gives a greater discount than Live Search, then use that instead). Once your transaction is complete, you'll be emailed further directions on how to register at Live.com. Once that's done, you'll have to wait 60 days before the money in your Live.com account can be paid out via the method you specify.
There is no ceiling for the amount you can get back on a single transaction conducted this way. But Live Search transactions done through eBay--Buy-it-Now purchases--are limited to a $200 refund per transaction.
You should read the complete Live Search directions, including the Terms & Conditions and FAQ. If you have additional questions, get answers directly from Microsoft via either online chat or email. And please don't take my mentioning of Butterfly or Adorama as a recommendation to do business with these companies. Do your own research and make sure you yourself feel comfortable with whatever reseller you choose. Butterfly in particular--which also does business as BestBuyPlasma, PlasmaBay, and LCDTVs (these stores are listed at Live Search too)--while seemingly reliable and not a bait-and-switch shop, has been known to try to upsell customers before processing their orders--so if you do business with this company, be prepared for an aggravating phone call! You also need to consider your ability to deal with the hassle and expense of returning a TV to an online reseller, should such a dismal eventuality be necessary. Some Internet dealers might even prove belligerent or impossible to work in this situation....
