I just found this while looking for a tv for the MiL (and bought one). Great deal!!!

Considering price/picture quality, this has to be the best deal on a flat panel TV going right now!

No kidding. Can't believe that I paid nearly 3 grand for mine not even three years ago, and that involved a PM and a coupon! At the time it was a steal.

I can vouch for the fact that Panasonic makes a great plasma set. Definitely worth a grand.

Maybe I should buy another and cost average them to $2k each?

DEAD! OOS

darn i missed it

Anyone know if this is much better then the Samsung 50" plasma that Fry's (B&M) has for $1000?

That one being:
Fry's # 5542410
http://shop4.frys.com/product/5542410?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
SAMSUNG PN50A450
50" 720P PLASMA HDTV

OOS online but local store still had it in stock at $999 price. Went to Sears and they PM'ed plus 10% and FREE Delivery. Total OTD with tax and delivery was $1,066. Repped!

For some, the anti-reflectivity of the glass panel(or lack thereof), is an unacceptable issue with the Samsung. Depends on the lights and windows in the room. Besides that, they both probably have their good and bad points.

I have also seen more negative comments on image retention and/or burn in about the Samsung than the Panny. Burn in can certainly happen to either brand if care is not taken to avoid.

I bought this when it was $1097 and was a little upset when BB subsequently had their big sale and then I saw this post. I called up Frys and they are crediting me $98. Thanks OP, always nice to save on a product you already bought!

While I wait for mine to be delivered, I was wondering what you thought of the TV so far?

Mine arrives this week. For some reason, when Frys called my home number to verify the order they got some company instead of me, so the order sat pending until I called last weekend. But I got a call from the shipping company on Thursday that it would be in this week. So I await its arrival with eager anticipation.

Thanks for the info!

I dropped by Fry's and compared the two - which was easy as both were RIGHT next to each other. I was surprised to see, by far, the Samsung had the much better picture IMHO. Hmmm..

While I love my Panny, I'll just say that you might as well use the double negative for their anti-reflective glass as well..it's nothing to brag about compared to any other companies (at least on the 80/85u models). I have my recessed lights nearly out and it reflects those thing like the sun off of a mirror...and I'm saying almost out and my TV tilted at a downward angle. However PQ is excellent and burn-in is not an issue (unlike another post...now, leave it on for 10 hours with a still image and you're asking for it)

nevermind

Anyone who placed an order getting a back order status ?

how did you get Sears to price match that Fry's price?
did you bring a print out of the FRY's website or did they go to frys.com and check the price?

Fry's has it back up to $1599 now

Just came back from Sears. Manager was okay with PM but refused to give me 10% Sears card discount. She said 10% discount only applies to regular Sears price and not matched price. . Did anyone else faced the same problem?
