It appears you can combine the 5% off special (8/25 6pm - Midnight) with the 10% MIR when buying using your Sears card. Not a bad deal if you can pick up locally. Lowest on pricegrabber deliverd is right around $2200 from reputable companies. Good find OP.

Agreed that Sony is too expensive and I tried hard to convince myself to buy other brands. However, we always had great experience with Sony while had generally bad experience with 3 other brands. Therefore we finally decided to go with Sony again. Gave serious consideration to Samsung. I think 650 and 750 look very good in B&M stores (however it is very difficult to make any judgement there) but what clinched it for me is that Sony has less glare which I think is good for someone with a bright room.

Go to the Sears home page, electronics tab, and follow the link for the 24 months interest free financing or 10% off when using your Sears card (it's a big ad right at the top of the home page, then the "electronics" tab). The link will take you to the MIR form.
BTW, I'm not sure what you mean by "too many new members" in the hot deals forum--the OP is a "new member" as well as I am--does this somehow make it less of a "hot deal" posting what we think are good deals to pass along to others?

I missed the possilbe 10% MIR as I paid with a different card.
Please bear with a new member's quesitons here (hey, a senior member starts from a new member too).
(1) purchase with Sears Card -- does this apply to Sears Master Card too? I had a Sears card but I belive it was replaced with a Sears Master Card. I do not use the card so I have no idea if my old Serad card is atill active or not.
(2) How do I tell if an item is "clearance: item? I could not tell.
(3) What got really confusing are:
(a) It says 10% "instant savings" but then I need to send in a rebate? Not my idea of "instant savings" (b) In the small prints, it says in store only? But the MIR form seem to suggest Sear.com only.
Now that I gave it more thought, does it mean you get 10% instant rebate in-store while you need to send in MIR for Sear.com purchase?
Anyway, I hate mail in rebate. So I'll give up on the possilbe 10% mail in rebate.

The Sears price does NOT state "clearance" It has the regular $3299 in red lined out and states to "click to see our price through 8/30/08" When clicking the link, the price of $1999 comes up and says nothing about it being a clearance price. Plus the fact the link specifically says through 8/30/08 implies it is not a clearance price--clearance prices are usually good until the item is "cleared" out--not through a date certain such as 8/30/08.

So back to the tv. Does this Sony deal sound like someting not to pass up? I've been reviewing all the reviews tonight and most state the best LCD you can buy, considering black levels, etc.
I will be needing a 46-50 inch tv for a room I'm finishing in a few months. I've decided on an LCD and I love my Sony LCD-projection so maybe I shouldn't wait anhy longer.

Amazing deal on an amazing TV. Especially when you factor in the extra 10% off. The SD processing on it is bar none.

1. Yes. 2. At B&M, the sign says, online - it will be displayed under the price or it will be displayed in the shopping cart when added. 3. Use Sears Credit Card and get 10% instant saving at the store, get 10% MIR when you purchase online.
If you have missed this time, don't worry. Sears is running this sale for the past couple of week (ends).

If you're not using Sears Card, looks like you can use this and get a rebate for the delivery expense.
