green for you, even though it won't work for me. I am still waiting for an E4500, E4600, or E4700 for under $100.

E7200 is better than all you listed, isn't it?
Both in-store pickup only
Nice price on a very powerful CPU. Put that together with:
ECS G31T mobo link
8500GT 512MB video card: link
Couple GB of RAM link
250GB SATA drive link
Samsung OEM lightscribe link
Case link
Build yourself an awesome machine for about $350. My own build is similar to above, with an ATI 2600 OC and an Core 2 Duo 8400 instead of the 7200. Absolutely flies with Windows XP.

probably, but it won't work with my mobo.

haha whoops, i was thinking of keeping my case so i ignored that.
if i'm buying a separate psu, how many watts would i need to run this system?

E7200 is better than all you listed, isn't it? Many LGA775 boards will not works with the E7XXX and E8XXX (45 nm Penryn) parts. Always check your motherboard compatibility list!
I am using that Powerspec case with the stock 300 watt PSU. It's a decent case, particularly for that money. Rolled edges on the interior metalwork, good ventilation features, rear 90mm fan preinstalled, overall sturdy construction, fairly quiet. I got it on clearance for $29. Now that I've had it running for a month or so, I feel it is worth more than the regular price. Unless you are loading the box up with extra drives, multiple video cards, or something else that sucks down a lot of power, it's perfect for a desktop build.
Combined with the OP's CPU , it's the basis for a good, low cost, workhourse machine.
I was going to upgrade this fall to the Core2 but Intel just announced the Nehalem CPU so I'm going to wait. No big rush. If only the USB 3 standard was done and incorporated on the Nehalem boards. That would rock!
I'm running my E7200 at 3.21ghz with no added vcore and stock cooling. People with oc heatsinks get these to 4ghz.
best processor as in performance/dollars
i just finished putting together a box with this inside, but I got cpu+motherboard combo at fry's for $129. To be honest with you it performs as good(if not better) as my e6850 I got last year for $300.
I got it all together for about $500-$550(with HD4850) compared to my $1800 build from last year, and it performs equal or better, as far as I can tell.
I think this is a good stepping stone before the next gen processors. Very good overclocker too as someone mentioned earlier.
Got mine last week from MC, doesn't OC with a darn...got it to 3.4 GHz on 1.3625 in bios, anything over that requires a HUGE increase in vCore, which I have read will kill wolfdales.
VID - 1.20
Supposedly the ones with B in the serial number don't OC so well...Guess which i've got.
Other than that, this chip ROCKS..GREAT PRICE!
