JR.com has the Panasonic TH-42PX80U 42" VIERA Plasma 720p HDTV for $699.99. Shipping is ~$100. Use with 12% Microsoft CashBack and the total will be around $750. Better than the $800 Fry's deal.
I have both this 2008 Panasonic plasma and the 2008 Samsung PN42A450 plasma.
The Panasonic has noticably blacker blacks, but for TV viewing every other PQ parameter I give to the PN42A450.
Also, the Panasonic's remote is more toy-like than that of the average $500 TV. The remote has a dedicated SD card button and a dedicated Viera button while more universally useful features are buried deep under menu navigations.
