Yeah Xomp is right. I tried the product registration website and it also didn't recognize the serial number. So I couldn't download any new firmware for it. Going to email Westinghouse to see if I can do it via phone or mail. |

I saw one of these today at one in SoCal and it looked really nice. It was playing a Cars on Blue Ray so Im sure that had to do with it. However for $700 I almost bought one. I will have to do some research on contrast ratios. I also wanted to buy a 47 |

Westinghouse taking out the trash, at Costco . Same ghosting/ringing/whatever effect when looking at text or dark-on-light colored objects (1920x1080, nvidia 7800gt, monoprice dvi-hdmi 28 gauge cable) Going to call within the next couple days. Hopefully they have a firmware or something that will fix this!! The firmware build date is Dec-10-07, version 5710_1.6.0 |

I just got my 2nd westy on Saturday at Costco. The 1st one had issues with my PS3 and this weird shifted image line about 3/4 of the way down when there was some fast motion on blu ray movies only. Well just tried the ps3 again and same issue. I took my PS3 to some friends house to see if it was the PS3, no issue on their Panasonic 50" 720p. I did not see this on any PS3 game on the westy but can't live with that annoying line. It only happens on all my blu ray movies. spiderman 1-3, and the underworlds. I too also tried to get the firmware but didn't recognize the serial. My 2nd one is going back to Costco. bummer for $699+tax I thought this was going to be the deal I've been waiting for. |

Got one of these yesterday in Atlanta Costco. Having problems when viewing local channels from antenna input. Some channels display the closed caption info at the top of the screen and you get these annoying white/black dots jumping around. Only way around that I can find is to press the FILL button to stretch the picture out. Anyone else having this problem?? I called Westinghouse to check on a possible firmware fix but they said there wasn't any new fw for this tv. -Ken |

thanks to the OP by the way agreed that the 37" (i had the LVM37W3) is a better PC monitor...I get crisper text using a VGA cable rather than the DVI->HDMI connection from my 8800GT. I think someone mentioned earlier that they were not getting 1920x1080 from VGA, but mine recognized that resolution automatically. |

I just called Westinghouse because my serial was not recognized. The CSR told me that this TV is still fairly new having come out in May of 2007 sometime. Anyway, she explained that when you receive a message saying "serial # not found", it simply means there are no firmware updates available for that particular item. She also had no ETA on an update for this TV. Just thought this would help some people. As for me, the TV looks great for both TV viewing and as a PC monitor, but I'm no TV expert. |

I guess.. haha Are you using the VGA connection? I'll probably test that out when I get home. The TX had a pretty shaky black @ 1920x1080 when using DVI->VGA adapter (I just used any cheap VGA cable), but I would still prefer the DVI->HDMI to be working well. |

Yea, VGA for now. I will switch to the HDMI connection once I get a cable. BTW, there are 4 hdmi inputs on this tv, not 2 as per the specs. |

I would have purchased it either way, because I think 2 is enough for me. But, I still checked it out in Costco from a side angle and saw the "4" inputs. Also, the picture looked good enough, and at this price it's good enough for me. I didn't measure it up to a Samsung or any other "better" brand. I don't watch TV enough to complain about it, I mainly got it because I wanted a flat panel to hang on the wall and run my PC through for HTPC when I want to watch a movie. TV looks awesome on it (again, i'm not a video-phile, so take it for what it's worth). |

Newb here. Found the site while looking for info on this model. Just picked this up from Costco in Phoenix yesterday afternoon (East Mesa Sossaman store). Interesting that they setup a floor display about 40 feet from the HDTV section. However if you back up far enough, you can compare the display model with the others, for a semi-decent comparison. There were about a dozen boxes left. Buying it with the AMEX card for the extended warranty was an added bonus. Looks terrific watching the U.S. Open. Looking good on my laptop as well (Nvidia 8400m GS running 1280x1024) with a VGA cable. Streaming MLB TV.com games come in clear. Text and graphics from Firefox look good too; no shifting, ghosting, or other issues mentioned in previous posts. Model build date is 2007 Dec 10, ver. 5710_1.6.0. |
