Just came across this and it seems to be the best price currently for a verified TiVo HD compatible external drive. Should provide about 60 additional hours of HD recording awesomeness.
I'm leery of these things. I tried one on my DVR carefully following directions and that was it for my DVR. Dead.

If this particular model broke either your TiVo Series3 HD or TiVo HD, I would give TiVo a call and let them know what happened since their website states this device is specifically compatible. Their customer service is usually pretty good, and they have been pretty understanding at least when I've dealt with them.
If anybody else needs, here are the specific instructions from TiVo for increasing storage with this device: Instructions

I wonder how much kickback money TiVo and the cable companies get on these........ there isn't a single reason you should need a special external harddrive for a DVR unit.

You mean other than people who want to record more hours of shows than the internal drive will handle, especially since the internal HD will only record 20 hours of HD programming?
