Thanks all for your suggestion. I think I will go with the XSI. Can you recommend some good lenses to go along? Thanks.

Before anyone make any suggestion, can you tell us what type of photos you are planning to take? (like sports, portrait, structures, macros ...) And how much you would like to spend on lenses?

basically protrait, landscape for travelling. Macros will be nice, too, but not a must at this moment.
If there is a good walk-around lens that I can buy and won't cost more than this kit, it will be great.Thanks.

Followed the link "MSN live CashBack". Placed an order for XSi in J&R. Haven't seen any CashBack e-mail from MSN yet. Do I need to have hotmail account. I am using gmail account.

The kit lens is excellent. It has IS.

The EF-S 55-250mm IS lens is an excellent, inexpensive ($260 or so) telephoto lens to supplement the telephoto end.

The EF 50mm F/1.8 II is another great lens. It's under $100, and it's an excellent performer. It's on my Rebel 90% of the time, even though I own the 18-55mm IS and 55-250mm IS. I love the large aperture.

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8

Its image quality rivals some of the Canon L lenses and it is only $400.

what's the 18-200mm IS lens people are all talking about? I searched and only found one Tamron one which costs about $700. Is that the one you guys are talking about?

It's brand new. Just announced. Not on the market yet. Not sure how good the IQ is, but given the outstanding quality of the new 18-55mm IS and 55-250mm IS lenses, it is assumed that it will be excellent as well.

Anyone know if the Xsi can handle new 30mb/sec Extreme III cards? So far I heard only the D90 can support 30mb/sec.

That said, I couldn't agree more that the new 18-200mm IS will be a great addition to the ef-s lens line!

If you want to call a $750 lens which does not even have USM a 'great addition'. Sorry...but Canon dropped the ball on this one.

To each his own, I guess. Canon will sell many thousands of them.

It doesn't take CF cards, only SD/SDHC.
