Is this the sale price after rebate? Compaq has been having a lot of $30 mail in rebates on a lot of their laptops. Also, will there be a FAR printer offered in this promotion. Sounds like a really good price based upon the specs. Have not seen an under $400 laptop offered for a few weeks now.

Got the CQ50-115NR this week. Associate said all of her in-stock machines for this model had been 'optimized'. I told her 'no thanks' to the added programs [TrendMicro AV and WebRoot SpySweeper]. Software stayed on machine, but she had manager provide credit which brought total back to sale price.

I can guarantee that if you buy this week for PM next week that it will never be "optimized."

I just returned from BB, was going to purchase this laptop today and do the price adjustment Sunday. However, the salesman I talked to said he had no knowledge that this laptop would be priced at $380 on Sunday. As a result he lost out on the sale. Has anyone seen the add that shows this price? Is this going to be a regional promotion where the price is not the same at all Best Buys?

Scans of the ad are posted on SD. Of course, the ad could be regional.

BB usually has the current ads in a kiosk at the front of the store, just pick one up as you walk in on Sunday.

thanks for anwering my stupid question. I"m going to go to pick up the lappy and get the flyer in an hour or two. hope I see the flyer around.
Not bad, even for $378. If they had this on sale last month, during the tax holiday, it would be been bedlam at BB.
The chassis design reminds me of a stripped-down HP DV6000 series. Performance-wise, it should qualify as a "mainstream" laptop, even if it has only "budget" features (no firewire, no express card, no s-video).
Should run Vista quite well. Loaded with XP or a newer Linux distro, this would a budget "screamer".
It doesn't start until Sunday. There is no need to use a coupon yet if you are doing return/rebuy.

When I click on the link the price shows up as $579.00. Where is the $379.00 price that is being mentioned?

I'm tempted -- looks like a decent computer and the price can't be beat, however 2 hrs 15 minutes of battery life seems terrible (most laptops have at least 3 hrs battery life).

Yeah, AMD processors in laptops don't mix well if you want to be away from an outlet for extended periods of time. I'm Intel all the way in my notebooks but in my desktops I prefer AMD.
