Are these fairly easy to install and are they meant to replace a pc fan? I have a compq presario that has a noisy fan. Im wondering if this or the 80mm would work?
Second....whats the difference (besides 40mm) between the 120mm and 80mm?
Thanks again FW'ers for your help

the difference between 40mm, 80mm, and 120mm is the size. 40mm is the smallest, 120mm is the largest. in your case most likely you will need an 80mm. you can verify this by measuring the old fan in centimeters. 10mm = 1cm.

thanks for the help, but i think you missed the original question's point...
besides the size difference, what you need to pay attention to are the dimensions (make sure it can be properly mounted in the space, checking for not only diameter size but also depth), how much air it's moving (as measured by units of cfm), and how loud it is when moving said amount of air (as measured by dB). holding all other things constant, a 120mm fan will move more air at the same audible level as a 80mm, or it will move the same amount of air at a lower audible level. the same general idea applies to why 80mm can be seen as superior to a 40mm.

EDIT: This Newegg LINK suggests that all of the 120mm Tri-cool fans have dual-ball bearings.
I have both on my machine, and not all have the double ball bearing. The cheaper ones are sleeved. After a little over a year, all the sleeved ones I had have failed (24x7 operation). Still 5$ for the LED ones is sweet - I still keep a led one for the top fan on my p180 case.
Dang, never even thought to check the 80MMs, checked the 92s but they were sold out. Missed the blue LED 80s, had to settle for green. Another thanks to Axelerate!
PS- got confirmation on my earlier order for the 120s!

Damn. hope this comes back. Been looking for fans with 3-wire plugs that can connect directly to my motherboard for automatic speed adjustment as opposed to the 4-wire ones that only connect directly to the PSU.

But $3/5 AND free shipping is a very good deal. I'll order one to have as a spare. Strangely, their system must think that these weigh more than a pound because the shipping is showing as $6.93 (before the FS discount), while for a single small piece of software it would be $6.50.
