So it was time to replace one of toilets in house and I have been doing research for the past 2 weeks. General consensus is that Toto toilets are the best flushing ones around. Been waiting for a deal and looks like this is the best one so far. I know people will think ~$300 for a toilet is crazy, but if you want that poop or dead hamster to be sent away at the first flush all the time, this is the brand to get. Ask any plumber and contractor..

Did a lot of research on toilets here before doing my bathroom three months ago. The Drake is awesome. I still smile when I see that fantastic flush action. It is that good. You will feel pity when you visit other people's houses and see their pathetic bowls. Also, the unpublished, but well known "half-flush" feature is true- and you'll very rarely need more than half.
The poster above me points out a price that does appear cheaper, but don't forget that at that site (and some others) the bowl, tank, and seat are each sold separately. Also shipping is not a trivial cost with these bowls, and must be factored in. That being said- stop being a cheapskate and go out and get this toilet (I got the Sanigloss model). The price premium is absolutely trivial compared to the performance.

We got the one without the sanigloss. First try, it plugged up. Now I make sure when I really dump a big one, I hold the flusher down a bit and never again has it been a problem, even when I use a half-roll to get squeaky clean!! However, sanigloss will stop the smears from sticking around, I'm one of those backshooters and even the Drake won't clean off the back as well as it does the front ...

hey op or anyone else. what is the difference between the one you bought and the one for $227 before discount?

http://www.HomeClick.com/web/catalog/product_detail.aspx?pid=254782

Only thing I see is the one for $303 is ADA compliant. What does that mean exactly?

If you check different sites you will find it cheaper. Use it to convince the Plumber that you can get it cheaper online then he can sell it to you. Use your Brain, the USA was built on the barter system. Just an "Old Fart Plumber". John

PS: Sani-Gloss is my cost $53.214 MORE, But Worth the price if you intend to keep the home.

ADA means it is a little taller. Better for most adults.

ADA, Is American Disabities Act, Requiring a bowl be at least 16 3/4" in height

jeez thats it? seems like a big difference in price for just that. But i checked the specs and your right the non ADA is shorter.

thx john and mac.

I also wanted to ask about the ADA because the sanagloss finish drake only comes in non ADA version that I saw anyway.

here is the one im looking at, white elongated sanagloss but non ADA.

The height of the non-ADA is usually around 14 5/8" and the ADA adds a couple of inches to 16 1/2". If you have elderly folks, it will make it a lot easier for them to get up with the ADA version. I bought it for this reason and I personally like to sit on a high throne. I read some review somewhere that someone bought the ADA and it was a bit uncomfortable for their spouse who was 5'3" tall.

I put all toto drakes in my new house, I haven't noticed any difference in the sanagloss versions compared to the regular (I have one ada non and one elongated bowl SG...also I much prefer the ADA height...use a handicap stall to compare difference....can't recommend the drakes enough, although I prefer the ultramax in my master bath...price includes seat on that one-

I deeply regret not putting Toto units in my new house. Two plumbers told me about them and I did extensive research that backed up their performance claim. Two years later and I'm still double flushing on a daily basis and have a plunger handy in all bathrooms for the Home Depot Kohler ADA units I opted for ( I was on a budget). The ADA height elongated bowl is nice however and guests comment on them all the time.

Check the forums at terrylove.com for more info than you ever wanted to know about toilets.

He also sells Toto locally in the seattle area but does not ship.

I got two of the Toto's with Sanagloss a few years back and they are amazing.
They practically never get clogged.

I special-ordered from Home Depot and they price matched a local plumbing distributor that had them real cheap.

Go for it, you'll be glad you did.

Oh and the contour of the soft close seat gets some getting used to at first, but you'll appreciate it after awhile... No more numb butt syndrome....

I bought a Toto CST743S and mine does get clogged frequently. The mouth accepts a larger diameter than will easily pass through the trap into the sewer tube.

Should I have bought one with a larger trap diameter?
