Staples has the Acer 21.6" X213WBD LCD monitor on sale this week for $179.98 (originally $279.98).

I'm tempted to pick up several of these to replace some old HP p1120 21" Trinitron tube monitors because the price seems pretty good. Unfortunately, it seems like this might be a Staples specific model as there isn't a whole lot of info available on the this model. In fact, I can't even find it searching Staples website, but it is in their on-line weekly ad.

Can anyone comment on the quality of this specific Acer model and/or provide specs?

8/31/08 They actually had 3 of these in Muskogee, OK at the local Staples store. I got one, NO rebates, that's out the door price + tax.

I picked one up today using a $40 off $150 Rewards coupon. My Staples store did not have this specific model on display but when I asked they said this is a new model and just came in. They got one out of lockup for me. Very few reviews but I took a chance anyhow since Staples has a good return policy in case I did not like it. The monitor came with a VGA cable and a DVI cable. I am using it on DVI and the picture is bright (had to turn down the brightness and RGB drive settings).

It has one pixel that is stuck on. It is located in the very bottom-right corner, way out of the way of normal viewing. It is basically under the clock area on the task bar. Even though the X213 can do 1680 by 1050 resolution, I set my display properties on my computer to 1280 by 768 which is close to a 16 by 10 aspect ratio. It gives me a little bigger font display, making things a little easier to read for us older folks. At 1680 by 1050 video, the display is crisp and clear. I'm happy with it.

I mainly bought Acer as their warranty is 3 years for everything including the panel and backlight plus I get an additional year of warranty for free because I purchased it using my Visa credit card.

You should set it at full native resolution and simply use a larger font. What's the use of DVI and LCD monitor if you're looking at interpolated images? It defeats the whole purpose of digital imaging.

My video card supports only 1280x800 with AVI output. I have another computer that can support 1280×1024 with AVI output. Would I be looking at a vastly inferior image at these resolutions rather than the native resolution, or would the difference be small?

Anyone else getting this error when adding to cart:

"Sorry, but because of your delivery area, we are not able to fulfill this order. The item(s) below will not be added to your cart."

I am in NY.

"Outside delivery area" here in Colorado.

ordered one over the phone with a 25$ off 100 coupon.

Under 170$ shipped after taxes is a steal for a 22'' Monitor.

I saw this post morning of 9-3-08. Went to Stales during lunch and picked one up from Staples on Coleman in San Jose, CA. It was not on display. The manager told me it was the last one. But seem like they always say that. I had a $30 off $150 in the mail. So out the door $163 after tax. Good deal considering they had the x223(22") at Costco across the way for $199.

I'd say give it a try and stop by your local Staples. May not be too late. There might still be just one more left.
