20% off is not a deal at L&T. 20% off is what most FW'ers would consider the everyday price from L&T as there's always a 20% coupon available. If the grill was on sale or clearance we might have a deal.
The Wal-Mart grill appears to be the same thing, just regular price on the grill with no extra savings. While you could do much worse on either grill, neither is a hot deal.
Oh? $200 for a top of the line grill is pretty good in my book. So should I not post it in the future or do you actually want to know about LNT deals? Seems I always score high for them for fans, shoe racks, and many other things. And thank you for the rest of you that are not a crab butt.
IMO, it's the same as saying "hey guys, remember there's a 20% off coupon for LNT" even though there's already a LNT coupon thread. Kind of like posting a $20 item for $10 after a $10 GCO discount. It's a good deal, but you could substitute any item in its place. The reason your other threads get green is because they also involve rebates which sweeten the pot.
It was this price at least half year ago. My friend bought one with 20% coupon. He is satisfied with quaity. Not bad. But not a hot deal also.

I hardly think anything made by Char-Broil is a top of the line grill. These last 2-3 seasons tops and then they crap out. Here is a link to site with some good info on BBQ's. http://bbq.about.com/OD/2007modelgasgrills/2007_Model_Gas_Grills.htm

I guess no one told my 10 year old Thermos (made by CharBroil) that it wasn't supposed to last more than 2 or 3 seasons. I did replace the burner and heat defuser after about 6 years.

There are exceptions to every rule. That's great that you've gotten ten years so far out of yours. Certainly not the norm. I'll wager that your 10 year old model wasn't made in china with the cheap stainless like these models.

Only thing we have had to replace is the briquettes. That said, we're shopping new ones since there are just plain better grills out there now.

My Charbroil is 8 years old this season. Had to replace the grilling surface and briquettes (because of the usage the grill has seen), nothing else. Perhaps Hammer would have a higher opinion of Charbroil products if he wasn't buying the $99 special.

My point was, they are hardly a top of the line grill. And no I didn't buy the $99 dollar special. I bought a Weber.
That's what I'm thinking. It's foolish to leave any grill outside even if it's stainless. I have had a 2 burner grill since 1994 and it's still going strong. I always pull it in the garage when I'm done cooking (yes I let it cool down first). It's still going strong with no issues. Only thing is last yea the top grill rusted out. The main grill is fine and has never been replaced.

My point was in relation to buying the cheapo Char-Broil, and their resulting longevity vs their higher end products. We aren't talking about Webers in this thread so that is irrelevant.

Well good thing we all know what you point was. The $99 model is also irrelevant as we weren't talking about that model.

LOL I was thinking that too, but I steered torwards being nice.

Any tips on keeping it outside for the winter? Best thing to do if you can't put it in the garage or a shed, is to buy a nice cover.
I bought my charbroil 3 years ago from target on clearance... it was 50% off and cost me about $150. I got my father a better one the next year for $87 at 75% off. Both are still running strong. The burners on mine have rusted some, but still work. That's because I leave it out in the winter... I think a trick is to oil (cooking oil, obviously) up the cast iron burners after your last use for the year, if you can't move it inside. I had to replace the regulator after it stopped working, $20ish at wallyworld. I should have replaced it when I first heard it making a strange noise. Before it gave out, it let too much gas through and I torched the porcelain grill, still need to replace that. I don't consider it a "top of the line", but for it's cost you can't beat it. I still haven't seen anything for less than $400 that I would consider a worthy upgrade.
