Thanks.....for the points.....but just look at this chart. The program is horrible. A recent ticket I got (Business Class to Asia) was priced out at $9,900, so this would be 775,00 points. I only needed 110,000 and 20,000 of those points were Starwood bonuses on the 20,000 (5,000 bonus per)transfers. I don't think the actual "deal" is good at all....but the points are!!

Correction...they actually want 906,938 Starpoints and I got it for 110,000 AAdvantage points (20,000 transfer bonus from Starwood included!)....so really not a good program!!

How many Starpoints?

Ticket Price* Starpoints
up to $150 10,000
$150-$215 15,000
$215-$280 20,000
$280-$345 25,000
$345-$410 30,000
$410-$475 35,000
$475-$540 40,000
$540-$605 45,000
$605-$670 50,000
$670-$735 55,000
$735-$800 60,000
$800-$865 65,000
$865-$930 70,000
$930-$995 75,000
$995-$1060 80,000
Higher prices (examples)
$2,880-$3,140 235,000
$4,960-$5,220 395,000
$9,900-$10,160 775,000

Deal was simply cut-and-pasted from this site - totally verbatim, word for word.

And this is your first post?

Just need enough points to stay at Planet Hollywood. The conversion is not quite as good, 12k points for a $129/night room, but well worth it. I believe weekend rates are the same for points? Not sure though. 12k points for a $250/night room would be sweet though.

In response to FatWalker's post

If I am not mistaken, I think the benefits of this new program will depend much on what airline you are flying. With United flights, it seems that the new SPG flight program will work out better because if I needed to transfer SPG points to United, I would only get 1 united point for every 2 starwood points. And when I looked up a particular flight for example, the SPG points needed for a United flight where not 2x the price for the comparable flight on another airline, but actually the same or even cheaper.

If you look at International Business Class the results are unbelievable!!.....however, for certain lower cost Coach tix. on United for example, your point is well taken.

The Planet Hollywood (as well as the Westin Casuarina in Las Vegas) tend to not be great deals with points, as they run promos often. Might be better to pay for the room and try to use the points for an upgrade.

They keep the redemption rate at about $.015/point or less -- and the more you spend, the less you seem to get.

So, it looks pretty reasonable for cheaper flights, which you generally can't get for reduced miles in the airline programs, and it has no blackouts.

Thanks for the points. The actual SPG program looks utterly worthless.
