I'm sorry, but even with employee pricing buying a GM vehicle is just a really dumb move.

We've had GM cars (as well as Lexus, Infiniti, Nissan and Ford), the GM cars have been a good value with reasonable pricing, great gas mileage and very few minor repairs.

last week, we just bought a 2009 Pontiac Vibe (Toyota drivetrain) for about $5k under sticker, after rebate, GM pricing, and some GM card earnings.

I told myself 5 years ago that I'd never buy a GM made vehicle after owning a few dumps, but letting Toyota focus on what they are good at (the engine) and GM at what they are good at (styling, interior), I think we did well.

By the way, good luck finding at 1.8L engine for the Vibe, they are definitely few and far between. We waited about 2 months, and looked 250 miles radius and couldn't find a dealer with the color we wanted, the preferred package (cruise, power doors/window, etc), AC, automatic transmission. So we just went to the lot and found a nice fully loaded AWD Vibe for about the same price as what we were willing to pay for a standard one month ago...

edit: spelling typo

GM employee pricing website - Didn't check the g6 but the 2008 corvette z06 is 10,000 off

The employee pricing website won't tell you the prices with options though.

$15k off the Cadillac XLR-V

The program includes nearly all 2008 model year vehicles and has been expanded to include most 2009 model year vehicles at dealerships, GM spokesman John McDonald said.

So I take it no discount on the ZR-1?

Only GM car I would ever want to drive is a Z06 Corvette. Everything else is garbage and this "employee discount" is a joke. It doesn't even begin to cover your losses due to terrible GM resale values.

I'll just stick with my Honda. I can smoke any non-Z06 GM vehicle, get great fuel economy, great resale value, and my car looks awesome.

CTS' are not garbage either. I drive one and love it-just wish I had the money for the current model

Cars Direct factors in the employee pricing, all the options, and subtracts all the incentives for that particular model.

Edit: They did factor all that in, but they have removed it. Since employee pricing has been extended I would expect them to factor it in on the website again soon.

Thanks, you really added a lot to this thread by telling us how great your car looks and how it can smoke anything on the road. Are you 16 years old and just got your first car? Congratulations, I'm glad you could save up enough to buy a Honda with your paper route.

This is definitely a hot deal, simply acknowledging posts like that is just sad.

Good luck to you in your rice burner when you get t-boned by a 3/4 ton pickup.

Oh look! Another American car thread!

Let me predict the responses:

'This deal isn't hot.'
'I wouldn't buy these cars for free.'
'An American car ran over my aunt and killed her dead.'

I'll bet the base Corvette, ZO6, ZR1, Pontiac G8, Cadillac CTS-V, Pontiac Sky Redline, New Chevrolet Camaro (V6 or V8), Cadillac STS-V, and even the Chevy Cobalt SS could all 'smoke' your Honda.
