For those who leap, you may want to check: I've bought two acers in the past that were spec'ed with cdrw/dvdrom but actually came configured with dvdrw.

If you luck up on a dvdrw, $398 deal goes from cold to luke-cold; celery 550 isn't great, but not that bad for basic use.
