I bought a similar model from Newegg last month, for $399 + $17 shipping. Except it only came with 1GB and I though a bit slow with Vista. Popped in a 2GB SODIMM (Kingston $40) and now it's quite an acceptable Vista machine. Lots of people downgrade to XP and are happy as well.

At $499, you're getting the 3GB pre-installed and a slightly faster CPU, so Vista should be just fine on this one.

Expect 2.5 hours on the battery. I think the Extensa is pretty well-built for the price.
