PRODUCT LINK.

Regular price $70, now marked down to $25.00, not sure if a clearance price since doesn't end in the usual OD clearance nomenclature (and therefore I didn't post in the OD clearance thread).

My local store had 2 on the shelf. Website denotes limited availability, so YMMV.

I got one of these, initially for an XP machine. Built a Vista machine, the Vista drivers never worked (seems to be a Creative thing), it was confused as to which speakers were which in a 5.1 setup. Eventually removed from my machine, went with the onboard sound, works much better than this card did.

I think this is the 'strange' model that doesn't really have the crystaliser chip. Instead it has an audigy chip and uses drivers for the audigy version, not the x-fi version.

I don't fully understand the situation, but I think that's what I dug up when looking in to that card a month ago.

Not saying if this deal is or isn't hot.

Something to check into

well, it has Crystalizer, but it doesn't have an X-Fi chip and should be avoided.

Low profile card (half height), does not contain the EMU20K1 chipset used by the rest of the [X-Fi] series. Is based on the same chipset as the Audigy 2 SE and SB Live! 24-bit. It also has Crystalizer and CMSS-3D. Also available for PCI Express and ExpressCard
