This should help shoppers compare the best deal for midrange cards vs best deal on high end cards. Someone over at BB pointed out some nvidia cards fail often due to flakey (G92, G94 & G92B) chipsets.

For the record; I went for the 9800 gx2 oc; which is comparable (but perhaps slightly inferior) to the ATI 4870. The ATI 4870 is also almost double the price; so buying that isn't wholly justifiable IMHO

How long is the typical lifespan of EVGA products? In other words, when do they usually discontinue and stop warranting the product?

Nice deal for a mid-level video card. I got the 9600 gt and just overclocked it myself to the same levels.

Lifetime warranty on the card, including overclocking it until you burn it up. If it dies and they no longer make that model, they will send you their current replacement at no extra charge.

Excellent video card for the price, does anyone have any comments on this El Paso, Texas rebate redemption center? Any complaints?

EDIT: I like the statement on the bottom of the rebate form: 'Please ignore the "Warranty VOID if Sticker Removed" on the back of the box when you cut the UPC out and mail it in'
Yeah... right....

I had an EVGA video card some years ago and they replaced it with 2 cards to equal the function of the one I lost. I think it was within a year of when I bought it, though. SMC also advertises a lifetime warranty, but they wouldn't do anything when my router stopped working. I stay away from SMC now. EVGA has been good to me though.

Does anyone know which was the best card deal recently just to put things in perspective? Thanks

This morning Fry's ad has this card for $59.99 after rebates.

AD: $149.99 - 30.00 (instant savings) - $60 (MIR) = $59.99

This is about the same as a 8800GT, right?

Actually, this will be a little bit slower than 8800GT but very close though.
