Are TNF backbacks still popular on college campuses? I think North Face stuff was the:
"we are young and adventurous, yet cool, yet prepared for anything that could occur while walking around paved sidewalks and air-conditioned classrooms while cruising in the SUV purchased by our parents who are also funding our college drinking and North Face equipment even though we have never spent one single night camping".

TNF is simply a quality product that looks good and people are willing to spend a little more on since it will last more than eleventeen days. nuff said

Sounds like you were the poor mistreated college student that had to work 3 jobs, live at home, walk up hill both ways to work and school, and carry all your old edition books in a plastic WalMart sack.
Or better yet maybe you skipped going to school, and worked part time to fund your own drinking.
Either way I feel for you![]()

I have quite a bit of TNF stuff that I've actually used [for extensive traveling, hiking, camping, etc] and I must say that it's quite durable. I generally don't go crazy on over-wearing the gear in public but on the trail/travels or when I just need to wear something worth getting dirty and abused it holds up to the name.
