Check this and have not seen it post yet. This deal was taken from DN. Sears Link Sears offers the Sony AM/FM Clock Radio, model no. ICF-C218BLACK, for $5.99. Shipping costs $4.99 or choose free in-store pickup. It features Automatic Time Set, Auomatic Daylight Savings Time Adjustment, calendar, battery back-up, and AM/FM analog tuner. For just $6, and with all the features, I think it is really a good price. A trusted brand too.
I think the term Automatic Time Set is a misnomer. There's nothing "automatic" about it. The time has simply been preset at the factory. Don't be fooled into thinking you're getting a clock radio with GPS/NOAA WWB capability.
As for automatic DST switching, it's all well and good until Congress changes the switchover dates again. Last time I got a clock radio with automatic DST compensation (Timex from Costco), I had to dump it a year after I owned it -- no firmware upgrades for these things...

WalMart.com has it for $9.28 (currently, no site-to-store for it). Hopefully, it's the same price (or less) at my local WalMart.
They do, I got 2 of them there a couple months ago. I also saw them at Toysrus BM last week, not sure what their price was. They are in the electronic section at wallyworld though, not in the alarm clock section.
I get a clock radio...he cannot afford. Great success! (c) Borat

The bad thing is then that you end up having to manually change the time 4 times a year because it will switch to daylight savings time at the wrong times. Then you have to change it for the new time Congress decides. Of course that doesn't defeat it's DST compensation so in a couple weeks after you changed it for the new daylight savings time, it switches on it's own to what it thinks is daylights savings time, but since you already changed it previously it will be off by an hour. A regular clock radio only needs to be set twice a year.

I just got back home from WalMart. Bought it for $9.96 plus tax.
I've owned this clock for a couple years now. I paid $11 on Amazon and it's been worth every penny. By far the best combination of price and functionality I've seen in a basic AM/FM alarm clock. I'm tempted to pick up a couple more... damn you OP.
I ordered this for pickup at a Sears about 40 miles away (but fortunately where my daughter lives). I received the "ready for pickup" email, but then got a phone call a little later saying that they only had a display model available. After a few rounds with the manager, I got them to sell me the upgraded and improved ICF-C318 model for the same price

I don't trust Sony unless we're talking LCDs. hehe The auto time set is a pain. Since Bush changed DST, the clocks set the wrong time and they occasionally get angry when you try to change it back. Still, you can't go wrong for $6.99. Thanks OP.

It doesn't work very well so I just set it manually.
So this Sony clock has a super-accurate circuit that stays perfectly calibrated to the factory preset year after year? My computer cost more than this Sony and my computer doesn't keep proper time. My watch cost more than this Sony and my watch has to be reset every few days.
What makes this clock keep time so well following the factory preset?

If you computer has internet access, you can install an NTP program that will make it keep accurate time.

IT'S EVEN SUCKER, I ORDERED THIS ONLINE. I RECEIVED CONFIRMATION E-MAIL THAT THE CLOCK IS READY FOR ME TO PICK-UP AT Sears AT ARDEN FAIR MALL, SACRAMENTO,CA. WHEN I GOT THERE A GUY TOLD ME THEY DON'T HAVE ANY MORE IN STOCK. WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS Sears RUNNING. THEY ARE REALLY SUCK. IT COST ME 1 GALLON OF GAS ($3.64) AND I GOT NOTHING. I WILL NEVER ORDER ANYTHING ONLINE FROM Sears AGAIN. MY FRIENDS OUT THERE BE CAREFUL WHEN ORDER. I WILL WRITE A COMPLAINT ABOUT Sears TO CALIFORNIA CONSUMER AFFAIR DEPARTMENT.
Their customer service is also suck, rude. they don't care about customer. DON'T SHOPPING AT Sears

But when I don't do that I know the electronic time keeping ability of my computer or watch is pretty bad. What sort of circuit or chips can a $6 clock have to be able to remain accurate for several years based solely on the initial set point?
I read above that there are settings to make (time zone) but is there a manual override to the hours and minutes, as well? If this clock is off by two minutes, can you fix it or are you stuck with the wrong time forever?
I'm just thinking that if you want the long term accuracy of a Rolex or atomic clock that you have to pay more than $7. So, how does this clock do it?

It's really sad to see how badly the skills for written language have deteriorated. At least capjones has a sense of humor about it!

Well, FWIW, I have a Rolex (yes, it's real - $6,500 worth) and it keeps terrible time. They always run fast. At least it looks good!

Have it serviced. Will run you about $375. Be aware there are only 3-Rolex authorized repair centers in the US. Anyone that claims they repair Rolexes are not using genuine Rolex parts. Rolex no longer sells any genuine Rolex watch parts to anyone.

Or do you actually have to reset it manually every few weeks?
