week video and smallish hard drive for the price. could do better on the bay.

Decent value with the blu drive. Green for OP.

fatwalletfreakazoid said: week video and smallish hard drive for the price. could do better on the bay.

Hmmm... Show me a new quad core Pavilion Elite 9300 with a Blu-Ray/HD DVD drive and a real 1 year warranty plus free shipping on the "bay" for less. This is an excellent deal OP. It is better than a similar deal Pavilion Elite last month which did not even include the Blu-Ray/HD DVD drive and cost $100 more.

Nearly at the Pavilion Elites on the "Bay" are refurbs that sellers buy from us that we dump through uBid. Those "bay" sellers consistently lie to their customers about he fact they are selling refurbished HPs and that the 90 day HP warranty they advertise in their “bay” auctions is not transferrable and goes into effect to the original purchaser at the moment of purchase through uBid.

Even though it isnt combinable with the instant $100 like last months deal was, it is still decent. I bought one last month for 766 to my door.

HP Pavilion Elite m9300t customizable Desktop PC

$766 to my door

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q6600 (2.4GHz)
– FREE UPGRADE to 3GB DDR2-800MHz dual channel SDRAM from 2GB
– FREE UPGRADE! 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 9300, DVI-I, VGA adapter, HDMI

$745 to my door

Granted You are getting a BR player, but you are limiting your processor, wireless, RAM, 2nd bay and graphics. For optimal BR performace, upgrading to the NVIDIA GeForce 9500GS may be worth it, on a 24'' Gateway at HD abilities, it looks amazing.

Hmmm something does not add up? Either you must have one heck of a sales tax or you conveniently screwed your numbers because the OPs config as listed and AZ sales tax is $640 delivered for me or $610 with 5% Live CB factored into the net price.
Your second comparison config is not relevant beuuase it includes a Blu-Ray writer not a BD-ROM like the OPs deal. Also last month’s base m9300t posted deal included 3GB not 4GB, No wireless, NO Blu-Ray and was not combinable with the HP instant savings because there was no instant savings offered during that deal. The ONLY advantage for the previous deal was the newer Intel processor but that is only a power saving consideration and no real processor gain. In fact the sock Q6600s & Q6700s consistently outperform the newer Q9xxx series and cannot be OCed in these Pavilion Elites like the Q6600s. Even if you configure the exact same $766 config you listed is now only $839 or $797 after 5% Live CB delivered for me and that includes the addition of the Blu-Ray Drive and the newer draft N integrated wireless. Here is last months m9300t deal

Which option has the HDTV tuner??

Wow, where do you come with this stuff?

can this video card pass audio through hdmi like ati 3450? If not, is there an spdif out? Can it pass True HD like ATI 3650?

Actually, I had an experience buying refurb European Dell's listed as new on the Bay and later discovered the Dell support agreements could not be transferred.

I believe we can agree that there is some risk to buying on the Bay as opposed to directly from the manufacturer.

For this reason, I would not equate the Bay prices directly to manufacturer prices without considering the risk.

Wow, where do you come with this stuff?

Because most "bay" sellers are lazy morons. They don't bother to create their own "bay" listings. They copy our uBid listings without editing our content. In addition when the buyer(s) who get duped in these "bay" sales contact HP for support they learn that HP will not honor the warranty the "bay" seller promised. HP refers them to uBid who in turn refers then them to us. Our advice is for the buyer(s) to file a credit card chargeback even if it has been a few months since the purchase. For example....

Our typical uBid template for HP refurbs...Here

Example "Bay Moron Seller 1
Example "Bay Moron Seller 2
TExample "Bay Moron Seller 3

...and there are hundreds more. Just search on ANY HP model we sell through uBid.

Better for what purpose? The two are Apples and Oranges in terms of comparison.

for games(diablo3 etc) and stuff
If I go with the gateway one I am gonna get a video card probably 512MB.

Not sure if I should get this considering that Nehalem (i7) is rumored to be out within the next month - or certainly by end of year. Who knows which variants will be shipping when, and how that will effect the prices on these current core 2 quad machines.

kirio81 said: for games(diablo3 etc) and stuff

BY the time you add the video card upgrade to the Gateway your cost basis is nearly the same as the OPs $599 config and you still have HD TV or Blu-Ray support . Personally I prefer the HP with the Intel vs the Gateway you linked with the AMD.

The Nehalem's release will have little or no effect on the price of current gen 65mm and 45mm Intel Quads since Intel is already selling those at marginal profits. The real question is do you really nead a Nehalem? If so, the Pavilion Elite M series is probably not the PC for you.

All the HP offered video options with a native HDMI connection also pass audio via the HDMI connection either from the onboard sound of the SB upgrade options. You may need to select HDMI audio as the default output source with Vista if you boot the PC fo the first time using another audio conntection.
Yes the m9300t has Gigabit Ethernet: Realtek 8111C 10/100/1000 Mb/s (Gigabit Ethernet) Integrated LAN

You knowingly bought a refurbished system from another country without looking into the warranty? Sounds like YOU didn't do your homework. Plenty of legit resellers with no hassle warranty transfers. Bottom line is you can get this system NEW cheaper. No way is this hot. Be my guest though and follow the leader.

Don't know about anyone else, but I am only getting this config for $699.99, it seems the $100 instant PC rebate is removed once I apply the coupon code. Just a heads up

This is a good deal, but for the expansion-minded the d500t deal last week was better.

Matschtick said: Don't know about anyone else, but I am only getting this config for $699.99, it seems the $100 instant PC rebate is removed once I apply the coupon code. Just a heads up

The HP coupon always removes the HP instant discount. The OPs does deal not use the $100 HP discount The Ops config is $999 - $400 coupon = $599. It will show as $899.99 in the cart with the $100 discount applied before you checkout. Once you apply the HP $400 coupon code during checkout the $100 instant saving will be removed and the $400 coupon applied. The price will drop to $599.99 before applicable taxes. If you do not see those numbers you inadvertently added \upgraded something from the Ops stated configuration.

I got this machine in the last sale, some thoughts:

- This does sound through the HDMI port. I've gotten Dolby 5.1 to work on the sound test under control panel in Vista, but can't figure out how to get 5.1 for Blue Ray with the player it has

- The TV tuner is a not a Hauppauge 1800, it is a VIXS PureTV. It does have an analog and digital port (for HDTV). Clear QAM support in Windows is pretty terrible all around. You will not get Clear QAM HDTV with Vista Media Center. With a LOT of finagling, I got it to kinda work in SageTV. There's some unofficial upgrades to the VIXS drivers that made it work with SageTV. This will not work with BeyondTV, and is unlikely to be supported by BeyondTV whenever Clear QAM support comes out. The bottom line with OEM tuners is, the more you drift from brand names (read HAUPPAUGE) the less support you get with the various applications. MS really dropped the ball with disabling Clear QAM support.

- The infrared in/out is the Vista Media Center IR blaster. This will work for Windows Media Center with some finagling and reteaching it your set top boxes controls. HOWEVER, since the drivers are proprietary, this will not work with any 3rd party TV tuner applications such as SageTV or BeyondTV without a lot of extra work (of which I couldn't exactly figure out) and 3rd party applications.

- Connected to a 1080p flat panel via HDMI, looks great. Video does go out from time to time, and cannot be recovered without a hard restart. I think it's a display driver issue, it's worth the time to go in and upgrade all the drivers that ship with it.

- Standard suite of crapware comes installed with this system... pretty easy to uninstall.

It's a fast system (especially if you get the 45nm chip, 64 bit with lots of RAM). This was my first experience with Vista... if I had access to a 64 bit XP license, I'd gladly nuke Vista and install XP.

pkomma said: if I had access to a 64 bit XP license, I'd gladly nuke Vista and install XP.
No you won't. I have a PC with XP-64, and to this day, drivers are still hard to find or stuck on Beta. Whereas on Vista 64, drivers are coming from every which way certified.

Question,

why is it after I enter the coupon code the $100 instant savings disappears. Therefore, it seems like I am really paying $1,099 + tax and not $999 + tax. Is this correct?

what A FREAK

I think your avatar explains your stupid comment.

FYI: The Vista Media Center TV Pack, officially for OEMs, is easily found (Google: tv pack x64). It automatically configures all your tuners and supports QAM.

Installing the "TV Pack" reportedly enables QAM on the ViXS tuner (also in my m9100z).

I haven't tried it yet: going to do a clean install soon.

Christ, for some reason I thought this was a notebook and was ready to pull the trigger.

PC Blu Ray drives are about $100 now.

I agree, just like in this deal:
http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/859863/

But remember, this is OEM pricing. The base configs are always cheapest and they get you with the upgrade prices, so you can't complain because if you actually paid for a legit retail/system builder XP/Vista license you couldn't really do better and still have the simplicity of a single warranty/vendor to deal with. =)

Overall this is a great config for the price, I'd personally get the dual-tuner, 4GB, 64bit Vista, and Xtreme Audio Soundcard instead of the Blu-ray drive for the same price.

good deal. ordered one, thanks

If you want Cablecard support, it's an attractive option. The big negative is that the only interface that supports cablecard is Windows Media Center. Once content is recorded to the PC, you cannot manipulate or copy it off the PC. You however can use windows media extenders (like Xbox's) to watch it from other TV's.

With all the $350-$450 Quads that Dell is selling these days, it's kind of hard for HP to compete in the budget market.

btw, this works with all pc's. the coupon code is 999-400 "DT1158 "
i'm trying to configure an option i like best
i have a ps3 and dont need the blu ray drive and am trying to pair the best processor/video card to get to 1k

The code is dead!

Well, those inspirons don't offer the q9450 and Dell's upgrade from q6600 to q9300 isn't that great (+$150). So, you pay a little more, but you get a little more (processor options, bigger powersupply). If you step up to XPS for the q9450/q9550, then HP has them beat on price.
