Sorry for the excitement. I thought $350 off a $799 purchase was a pretty good find.

It is for people that want Sony DSLR, most are Canon or Nikon. I applied for it, I think it's really hot deal. I didnt get instant approval though

Hey, I've been looking for a nice DSLR, and this seems like it'd be right up my alley!
However, I'm curious if I'd get approved. I'm a young college student with a pretty good score (704, last time I checked). I just got approved for a Citi card with a $1200 limit just a couple months ago... what are the odds I could get approved for this, too? Anybody know this stuff like the back of their hand and could help me out? I don't wanna apply and lower my score a bit if there's not much hope of getting approved...
The ad says that tax is included - a few more dollars savings for those who live in most states. It is not clear if it includes the lens or if it is body only - but I believe that it will include the lens kit. Too bad both my wife and I already have the Sony card.

I've been playing these credit card offers for a long time. Now it seems the offers are even getting better. "704 is a great score" Just keep you credit clean. If you dont get approved right away usually I call the bank and ask why. Then I tell them I have a comprtitor card and 9 times out of ten I'll get a restricted card usually a $500 line. Work the card for 6 Months and your score gets better and the next card is even easier to get. KEEP YOUR CREDIT CLEAN

Cool... yeah, I've been trying really hard to keep a great credit record going.
I guess I'll just go for it, and see what they say....
Good price! I'd buy it if I didn't already have the A100. Nice camera. The A900 was announced yesterday, and it's a real $3K beast. Available pre-order at SonyStyle.com if you have't looked yet.
EDIT: For those on the fence; consider that my experience with the Sony has been excellent and I'm coming from a history of high quality film cameras. The other day, I had the chance to play with a Canon XTi something or another and it felt cheap, when compared to my A100. Almost a pity too, that Canon later that day sported the 85mm 1.2 jesus-lens. I've had a chance to handle the A350 at Best Buy and it was as nice a build as my A100, though I do think the shutter lock and the DOF preview is essential which only the A100 has. Just assembled a lens? You can hold the DOF button down and while in aperture priority, twirl the finger switch and step through the stops while looking into the lens to double-check the f-stop positions. In all, the Sony is definitely solidly built, a pleasure to lift from the box $350 off ...

Also a big advantage of Sony over CanonNikon is the Long run cost... if you plan on buying a couple of lenses.
1) Canons/Nikons come with 18-55mm lenses standard. Not much zoom 2) Sony has IS built in the Camera 3) You can use Minolta AF mount lenses which have been around for over 20 years.
That means any lens you buy will have Image Stabilization. New prices on Sony lenses are usually very cheap compared to IS/VR canon/nikon lenses. If you go used... you can save even more. For instance, my lenses include Minolta 50mm F1.7=$60(usually $100 or so on eBay) Minolta 28mm F2.8=Part of pack that I earned $10 on Minolta 100-200mm F4.5=$60 shipped Minolta 28-85mm=$50 shipped Sony 18-200mm=$275 shipped.
Compare that to the cost of Canon IS lenses... I would bet the savings are in the quadruple digits, if they even make them in IS. Of course, I heard that Canons/Nikons are slightly better in IQ. I am just talking $$$ here.
I would definately get this... if only I didnt already have an A300. =(

Thanks OP, I forwarded the information to two people I know who are lookings for DSLRs. This is definitely a good price. If I didn't already have A300K from a previous Circuit City deal, I'd be all over this.

I have the A100 from the Sears deal not so good a deal but I paid $350 did not get the price match to $202 as some people did.
Anyway I also have a canon 20D prior to that I had all minolta rigs and have plenty of old minolta lenses. I was going to return the A100 to get in on this deal. What do you think should I keep the A100 or jump on the new king of the hill a350. From looking at the Sony site it looks like that offer is for the kit. Not sure what lens but a kit for sure.

Its for the Kit. DSLR-A350K = Kit.
Slammin, I'd jump in on the deal if I were you. Sell your A100. I see them going for 300+ on auction. Take good pictures and a give a good description.
Couple of Negative marks on the A350 vs A100. 1) Setting changes are slower because the A350 uses menu driven system, instead of knob system like the A100. 2) No Depth of field button 3) Smaller viewfinder(to accomodate Live View)
Positives 1) 14.2MP 2) Foldable Live view 3) Better IQ overall

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find this link? Is it legitamate?
Deal is dead (or at least seriously crippled) as Sony changed the promo last night to $100. Thanks for nothing, Sony, I can get $100 off list just by shopping around.

No the link still works.
$100 is this link: http://www.sonyrewards.com/en/gateway/?offerlink=ikcam
note the different offer code.... (also found on fw).
I'm just skeptical since it's a CC application and I have no idea where it's coming from.

ditto...
I got a little concerned, so I called the Sony Rewards number to verify that they did approve an account for me today and they did confirm it...
did you ask about the promotion ($450 a350) and when they would be sending it?
no I didn't...just wanted to confirm that the 'application' was legit...so unless they were able to hijack the Sony site where I got the number to call, everything should be okay...[/crosses fingers]

Maybe they mean 48 business hours?
And thanks to the OP. I ordered an A300 from Amazon recently, and the LiveView display is having problems. I'm still well within the return period, so I had already decided to return it, and rebuy the same exact thing. However, I happened to see this post, and now I'm going to be able to get an A350 for $150 less than I initially paid for the A300. Hopefully, the next one won't have a manufacturer's defect. Awesome camera, other than that though.

I just applied and was instantly approved. no emails yet. Last time I checked my credit score it was 80x. Don't remember what the "X" was but it was over 800 none-the-less. Pretty darn good credit.
JPhotoz said: I went for the card. I don't see anything that tells me what I get or how it works though. Am I missing something.
Click link above Go through Gateway to application.
Approved then what?
How do I get this deal?
I want this camera.

I think we're all waiting for the email. Seems like no one got in on this deal yet.

I called them, first they transferred me to Chase application department to check on my application which still pending (I applied on Thursday). Then I asked them how I can get the reward, the lady has no clue and put me on hold for 2-3 minutes. Then she said the way it works is if I buy the camera and the credit card statement should automatically deduct the $350 off. I guess I have to wait.

Is the promotion still valid? Tried following the link but I see no mention of the discounted camera. Didn't follow the thread originally (and have since searched and read the entire thread) but don't know if it listed the promotion before - or was it only after signing up for the card. And searching didn't reveal and end-date that I could see in the thread. A search on the Sony rewards site (before and after becoming a member) only has the full points (75k) for the camera even when added to the cart.
