No go for me - when I called in, I was told that the eligible promo was 5 points for every $1 spent on petrol. I've already got gas credit cards. |

I just called. Man said they don't do that. Never heard of program. Chase never transfers balances between cards. Called back and another man said he had maybe heard of the 3-2-1 program and he'd check, hold for a minute. He came back and said that was already being done to my card effective Oct 1st. No, I did not receive a letter but told him friends of mine did. |

Kick ass! I qualified and everything went smoothly. Thanks SO MUCH for posting this deal OP, should get a FW t-shirt for such a big Amazon find. I promised myself I would stop buying so much from them, but it looks like this will make my trigger finger itchy as hell again. Next up, a new Sigg bottle! Could someone please list the advantages/disadvantages of this points system though? It seems a little too good to be true. |

i upgraded last night and afterwards realized that i should have waited. you get double points for the next 3 month. if you wait until the end of sept to upgrade you will earn double points thru xmas and the after xmas sales season. they're projecting weak xmas sales so there may be lots of deals coming up both before and after xmas. |

Thanks OP. This helps with my gas purchases. I'll go back to using my Amazon card for gas purchases once the discover card gas promotion is over. Also, just got my rate reduced from 28.99% variable to 27.99% fixed. Thank god I pay this card off every month. 730 FICO score, $65k annual salary and this is the best they can do for me, WTF. |

Odd... i have a 13.99% rate, and my score is probably around 650... I have a zero balance on the card, because I get better rewards from AMEX blue cash... |

No harm in getting the upgrade. But to be eligible to get the extra points, don't you have terms where you need to have a balance of atleast 800-1000 per month? |

I've about had it with CHASE ! Aside from my concerns about some 8 year old closed Citi Bank accounts appearently transfered to Chase and showing up on my web account, I got this Amazon credit card upgrade offer in the mail too. I called and was very detailed and specific with the CSR. The offer states "NO CHANGE TO YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT NUMBER". I asked for his assurance that NO CHANGES would occur other then the more favorable reward rate. He confirmed this. I then asked simply, "so there is no downside to doing this and my credit record would not be impacted in any way" he confirmed this. A few days later I get a letter from CHASE telling me when my "NEW CARD" arrives to activate it and destroy my "OLD CARD" - oh really ? Yesterday I get a new Amazon card in the mail (which I have no intention of activating)- WTF I called CHASE and it's being "investigated". I pleaded with the CSR. I explained that this was a complete misrepresentation of the offer I recieved and had in front of me stating "NO CHANGE TO YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT NUMBER" . Even if there is no impact on my credit rating (which is 750+) there is a principle here. I'm so angry I'm seriously thinking of taking legal action, small claims court or the AG's office of Consumer affairs - SOMETHING ! "I'm mad as hell and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore" - Howard Beale from the film Network YMMV, you've been warned. |

YMMV, you've been warned. I was told that it would be a new card, but the same number. Did you look at the number on your new card? |

fleamarket said:Thank you so much for bringing it up. I have this Amazon credit card for 5 years and I make over 5k Amazon purchase annually but never use it before, cause I have no idea about their reward. From now on, I can enjoy 3-month of 6% and 3% after that and stop being a sucker! How can you have a Amazon credit card for 5 years and not know about its rewards program??? |
