I got a flyer from Amazon which says that they will offer 6 points per $ for purchase on Amazon, 4 points for drugstores, gas purchase and 2 point everywhere else for next three months.
Currently, it is 3 points for Amazon, 1 point everywhere else.

For upgrade, you need to call 1-888-247-4080

As per them, no changes in policies except for points.

No dice. You have to have the letter mailed to you cause they keep track.

So you mean that not everyone else can use it. I called them and asked for upgrade and they did it without any questions..Probably worth a try for others..Most they can is to deny which won't harm.. but won't trying make cause losses

No need for the flyer, only a call worked for me. My card was upgraded to the 3-2-1 point system. For the first 90 days it will be 6-4-2 points. The CR also said that we could receive CashBack $$ instead of Amazon GC when it was time for point redemption.

nutz, would've been perfect for the $1k+ of grocery's I just spent last week on Amazon.

ubergreen for you OP... at 6 points per dollar spent on Amazon.com and a $25 GC for every 2500 points accumulated, that's roughly 6% off their already stupid low prices.

I didn't get the flyer, but the guy helping me was very cool and hooked me up.

For those of you who don't get in on the first try, you should try again a few times!

Nuts! I called and was told I didn't qualify. But thanks OP for bringing this to my attention... it only cost me a couple minutes for a chance at double Amazon points for 3 months.

I disagree. I did not get a letter from them and was still able to upgrade my current chase Amazon card. I did this just over a month ago.

I didn't get the flyer but qualified over the phone yesterday.

Just upgraded. Took about 2 minutes. Thanks OP!

Thanks OP. I just called and qualified even though I didn't get a flyer either.

I also got it without the mailer thanks OP

thanks op. just upgraded.

Thanks OP, doubled 3-2-1 for 90 days. New cards will be sent. Old balance from old account will transfer to new account.

Wow, they are still trying to push the credit protection "feature" on me, 5 minutes later. Remember to just say no!

Like a lot of the posters above, I was also able to get the upgrade yesterday over the phone without having received the flyer. Took about two minutes. Account number stays the same.

I upgraded without the mailer as well. Thanks!

i got the flyer a day or two ago. i just called and upgraded. now i'll have tough decisions to make. i'm trying to rack up 50k more airline pts to get my family to hawaii next summer so i'm gonna have to decide which of my many credit card rewards programs to choose from.

That's not roughly - that's exactly 6% off their already stupid low prices. Great deal OP!

Arggggghh! I got the flyer sometime ago and didn't realize I have to upgrade... no wonder I haven't gotten extra points. Thanks for bringing this up.

BTW, did anyone else get a really preppy rep that tells you you've been a great customer and deserve this? Felt a bit weird.

did this a couple of days ago when i got the flyer. good deal.

999th post!

Thanks OP! Glad I found this prior to making my big tv purchase from Amazon

Don't worry ! Try it out.. Unless, you don't have extreme bad credit with chase.. they won't let you down.

Thanks, I don't remember receiving a flyer but I called and they gave it to me without a problem.

no go for me either -

anyone have luck if they were denied initially on a call back?

me too got the flier..but didnt think it was hot deal until OP posted it

AMEX starwood FTW get a nice intial point amount 10k...then a bonus after 15k spending in the first 6 months...of 15k points....
Convert 20k starwood points at a time and get 1.25 miles on certain airlines....

So if you spend 15k in the first six months...thats a total of 40k points which equals 50k miles after the transfer...
which nets you more than enough miles for a ticket to Hawaii...or a Business class ticket to Europe by transfering to Cathay pacific and flying via British airways....

Sorry to get off topic..

I have an Amazon Chase too and it is a great card...and I use it for all my Amazon purchases....

Apparently this 3-2-1 is their new system for Amazon Credit Cards.

Info can be found on the Amazon Credit Card page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/cobrandcard/marketing.html

EDIT: You made that up.

In stead of upgrading an old CC, can we apply a second one? The second one shall inroll you in the new program plus $30 bonus. This seems better than upgrading old one.

I posted this deal a couple of months ago. The double points are on office supply purchases as well per this wording on my statement:

Your card allows you to earn points faster than ever! Earn 3 points for every
eligible dollar spent at Amazon. Earn 2 points for every eligible dollar spent on gas,
dining, Drugstore, and office supply purchases. And earn 1 point for all other
purchases! Choose rewards for as few as 2,500 points! For complete program
details, please refer to your Rewards Rules and Regulations.

Also, apparently they ARE paying double points for educational expenses as someone had posted a few months ago in another thread as this was also on my statement:

Bonus points earned on school payments

Most of my purchases were "everyday" or educational, so I ended up with over 10,000 points for $3500 in purchases.

Oh, and I also got an offer for bonus points by mail/email around the same time as I upgraded the card (separate from the upgrade however) and those are for 3 months and should be paid shortly thereafter, so my "everyday" categories may be paying even more.

thanks for the info. my wife and i open about 4 new cc accts per year to rack up miles. we have about 400k points spread across 4 carriers. it doesn't seem to affect our credit score. she's over 800 and i'm right below 800. racking up free ff miles is another hobby of mine since we like to travel.......and shop!

Darn!
Which I had know about this last month.
Spent $2000 there! doh!

Thanks
just signed up... shoudl get me thru the holidays!

Just called, didn't receive flyer, and was instantly upgraded. Quick and easy 2 minute process. Sounded peciliar at first since this "upgrade" consisted of receiving a new physical credit card but the same numbers. No yearly fees or anything. Just a change in the points system where you can redeem for either Amazon GC (same rate: $25 Amazon GC per 2500 pts) or whatever else they'll offer. Hope the new credit card looks fancy or classy to flash to the ladies.

nvm

That is interesting that some of you have fliers that tell you to call in to switch programs. I received a flier, but it just tells me that it will kick in on October 1st, and that a new card will be coming in the mail. Could it have originally been a pilot program and is now being automatically rolled out to all Amazon cardholders?

"Maximum Amazon.com Point accumulation on Net Purchases for all Amazon.com point earning levels is 60,000 Annually." For those who make lots of Amazon purchases, probably better to stay with the old program.

Thank you so much for bringing it up. I have this Amazon credit card for 5 years and I make over 5k Amazon purchase annually but never use it before, cause I have no idea about their reward. From now on, I can enjoy 3-month of 6% and 3% after that and stop being a sucker!

hmm i've had this from their Amazon signature visa for a couple of months now. the point limit will be a problem since i've done almost 7000 a month. hrmm.

If this is policy, it makes it slightly better for a few month's than the CITI Forward cards that gives 5% on bookstores (including Amazon) and otherwise appears to dominate the Chase Amazon card for those who make heavy use of Amazon (which are probably the only ones who should consider this card since a Schwab can give 2% on everything).
