At was at a local Best Buy last night and saw a couple of HD-DVD players for the Xbox 360 for 39.99.
I remember these went on sale for like 50 a piece a while back.
Though they are pretty much like dinosaurs now, they would still make good portable DVD players.
Can be used with computers too.

I've seen them as low as $35 but who needs them now?

These aren't really portable DVD players....unless you use them as a PC drive. They are not a great deal at $40, for that price I would look at eBay.....this has been the price for awhile at Fry's, but if you don't have one in the area and want one (as I do) to back up your HD-DVD movies to your computer, this is a good deal. Note they do come with King Kong on HD-DVD as well.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the King Kong HD DVD that comes with it.
Anyway, I just thought some people might want these still.
I didn't buy one since I'm saving up for a ps3 >.<

Yeah, not superb price. Most people buying these now are doing so mostly for the remote.

Thanks OP, though I don't need one, still a good option as backup for those that own 100's of HD DVD's. Thanks for posting.

I'm getting disk read errors on several games in my 360. The console is clean and my disks are in impeccable shape.

Can I use this to run games? May save me the headache and cash of sending back my 360 for repair.

Can't use these for games. Only movies and other non game media.

This is the regular price at Fry's also. Not really a hot price for this drive. You'd be better off getting the stand-alone A3 with 2 free movies for $50. Quality and audio is better.

Basically the only way this is a good deal for someone is if they want to rip their HD-DVD movies to their computer's HD to view or later burn onto Blu-Ray.....I have a Jimi Hendrix HD-DVD (European) that will likely never make it to Blu-Ray so I purchased one of these to rip the footage to my HD.....when Blu-Ray burners are commonplace I will burn it onto a disc....other than that I really can't see much use for this unless you only have one hookup on your TV and you want to use this as a DVD player instead of your XBOX to save the internal XBOX's drive.
