They weren't saying "Off Topic" is gone, they are saying OT : PI is gone. That was, Off-Topic Political Incorrectness. (I think that's what it was called) Yes, exactly. Now that OT : PI is gone, the politics just spills out into the other sections. |

I find racist threads about Barack Obama extremely offensive. I'd say the same thing if anyone made light of John McCain's age or military service. Some things are too tasteless even in this hostile environment. Race based jabs are so off limits, people making them really lack any credibility or respect. |

tjsynkral said:Let people post what they feel is a hot deal freely, and let the users bury the post with (-) if they disagree that it is a hot deal. Weather the posted deal is hot or not really doesn't make a difference. The problem is that those posts often lead to a site expressing a particular political view which has nothing to with what we're here for. I say keep the forum politics free. |

Have you missed the 30,000 threads about how old McCain is? Or the 300,000 about Palin? I'm not saying any of them are right, I'm just saying they are there. |

There's a lot of off topic discussion in postings of firearms deals as well-- so are we going to look at banning those next? I'm not suggesting that mods take that action, just using that as an example. Whether it's a deal about SUV's, guns, or 1080p vs 720p, there will always be individuals who do not realize that this isn't the appropriate forum to air their biases. In my opinion, we should allow political deals as long as they are deals. I think it's the mods job to make sure that the thread stays on topic. If a member submits an off topic posting, delete it and then warn them. If a member submits a blatantly racist comment, then ban them. We're an online community dedicated to finding deals, not spreading hate. If someone has an issue with political deals being posted, then just use the "ignore" feature in the forum. That's what it was created for. |

I'm tired of GOP supporters posting McCain/Palin deals. If you are trying to mobilize people to vote for McCain, then you guys are doing a horrible job. |

Maybe you should handle these "political deals" in the absolute worst way imaginable: Allow people to post opinions and insults thinly disguised as "deals," but immediately place the threads under moderation so that the originators of those threads can effectively give a big middle finger to people who can't even respond. Oh, wait... you're already doing that. |

There aren't that many political hot deals. Why get rid of them? Besides, chances are most of the hot deals don't interest most of us anyway, so why treat political ones any differently? |
