If you are an AT&T Premier customer (currently getting a discount on your plan) and are planning to pickup a new line or your work provides a new line AT&T has a sale on a few good phones for free and with the rebate listed below you could make another $100 on top of the free phones (YMMV):

  1. ATT Tilt (Normally $199)
  2. Blackjack II (Normally $99)
  3. Motorola Q(TM)9H Global (Normally $149)
  4. Palm Treo 750 (Normally $149)
  5. Pantech Duo (Normally $99)

Terms:
"Premier Only Windows Mobile Smartphone Sale! Free AT&T Tilt(TM) with qualified voice and data activation. Additional restrictions apply.

Limited time offer, while supplies last. Promotion runs 09/16/2008 to 10/07/2008 11:59 PM PST and is available on new service activations only. Requires a 2 year service agreement and activation on an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99/mo. or higher with either (i) a PDA Personal plan of $30/mo. or higher or (ii) a PDA Enterprise plan of $40/mo. or higher. Offer cannot be combined with any other equipment promotion, discount or other offer. Subject to availability limitations. Flat rate plans are eligible. Sales tax calculated based on price of unactivated equipment. "

The other thing i found is that you can not only get the above listed phones for free but also pickup another $100 (YMMV) as I have done this a few times in the past and have not had any issues with receiving the rebates despite the phones being free out of the box:

$100 Rebate valid until 9/20/2008

Finally also found the following rebate for the Tilt for a GPS kit

I was so psyched about this sale. Ordered a Moto Q.

FYI, AT&T rebate form states it's invalid if the price is $0 or lower.

Damm I see that new clause now in their rebate forms. BTW here is the corrected Rebate link:

Does anyone know if data add-on can be cancelled later? Or will it have to be there for 2 years?

I'm afraid it might depend on your company's contract, but I was told I had to keep it for 6 months, and that sounds about standard--same as Amazon or Wirefly.

Are you sure you are looking at the same sections? You have to add a NEW line and have a Premier account for you to be able to see this promotion. I re-read the promo details and don't see that being only for a selected customers or anything.

BTW, this only works for new lines. I'm up for contract renewal, called yesterday to see if they could do better than $299.99 - $100 rebate for Tilt that is shown on site. They won't budge. Guess I'm waiting...

I tried to update the OP but I keep getting Title Lenght issue but either way I have that in my first post that its for "New" lines only. I have personally never seen the same offers like this for "Upgrade" customers in the past.

So, last time there was a big Premier sale (8525), you could remove the data plan online the moment the account got set up. Is this true for this one as well?

I signed up for a new two-year contract. I have to keep the voice for two years. When I asked the chat representative, she said I only had to keep the data plan on my new line of service for six months. I have no idea if that's the case for everyone/every company.

Thanks again for the head's up. The phone is going to be here tomorrow. Can't wait.

I wonder if you can order a new line first, then cancel the old contract.
