Guess I'll get started on that photo book project that I've been putting off for who knows how long. Thanks.
Thumbs down on this for me. Doesn't look like they're using dye-sub printers so you can see the dots on the images and it's done on matte paper. The cover had a nice scratch on it as well (not done by me since it was packaged realllly well w/ styrofoam sleave and lots of cardboard).
The CVS photobooks looked much better IMHO.

Did you get your photo book yet?
not yet
got mine last night. was definitely pleased, and $7 for hardcover with 120 pages is pretty sweet. thanks OP!
tucker2: can you see the little dots that make up the image as well? Just wondering if that was a quirk with mine or typical. I found out they use an HP Indigo LED offset printer which is definitely not a dyesub printer...

printing technique is way beyond my technical knowledge, but no, i didnt notice little dots on mine. there were no scratches on my covers and the paper definitely isnt matte finish.
They are using MS Silverlight and you will need to install prior to using their service.
It is very unstable and does not always work. I just chatted with someone from their customer service and they said they are aware of issues. I asked to cancel my account: In the time it took to sign up, install silverlight, choose photos and chat with customer service, I could have went in IPhoto and created and ordered my book.
inkubook did send me a replacement for the one w/ the scratched cover, so take off one thumbs down.
tucker2: is your paper a flat finish? I think I used the wrong term. There's very little shine if any on it. The colors aren't vibrant like you'd get from a photo printed off a dyesub printer or a digital photobook from CVS though (both of which are a lot shinier/glossier). And I still see dots in my 2nd copy.

I completely agree with these sentiments. I've had the most difficult time using this program. Any suggestions from people?
Only slightly quirky behavior w/ the silverlight app for me (had to reload the home page to get it to work). What's annoying is they got rid of some layout templates so some pages show up blank in old photobooks.
Make sure you have the latest version of Silverlight loaded on your system and you should be fine. I even used Firefox with it.
inkubook seems to be the least expensive relatively large photobook...others are just 8"x8".

Thanks for the post. I enjoyed the cheap intro rate. However, I were not able to track shipping on the book. My book arrived with a scratch on the back, but they agreed to replace it. The quality is not as good as Shutterfly. and as others mentioned, the software is harder to use.

It's all great, but the price per book is too much. For the money, can't beat Shutterfly and Snapfish, who constantly have deals. Not to mention the best books I've tried so far.
I just found the software too difficult to navigate and change the layout.

The best book I've done yet was through MyCanvas.com, who had a free book offer until the end of October. Even though I've been pleased with Shutterfly, MyCanvas.com was superior--the way you could manipulate layouts, shift transparencies, type text ANYWHERE on the page, shrink or enlarge templates or delete parts of them--was easily above and beyond the others. In fact, the only reason I'm hesitating to take advantage of the Oprah offer (free 8 1/2 x 11) that's out there is because Snapfish is really limited in the backgrounds offered and the designs don't hold a candle to MyCanvas.

Cons: Silverlight in a PITA. Shipping fiasco where my sister's book didn't show up for 2 weeks. Can't delete photos once they're submitted- which means TONS of extras. Can't easily shift pages around- manually have to 'move' it.
All in all- The quality is excellent- but not 40$ excellent. Maybe like 25$ excellent.
FYI, Snapfish also uses HP offset printing, so the image quality should be pretty much the same (same printer technology as inkubook). A friend showed me a Snapfish book over the weekend.
Has anyone seen a new code for a free book, all of the previous ones have expired
