I see the price is now $72.99? Still seems like a great deal, just a price change, though. |

Clicking sound then failure in 4-8 months? No thanks, no way. |
poweruserx said:Clicking sound then failure in 4-8 months? No thanks, no way. I have 2 of these drives for ~1 year and did not have a single problem. One is in ThinkPad T61 and one is in MacMini. Drives were pulled from external units (with DTG* serial number). Many people associate Deathstar drives from 5-7 years ago with current Hitachi drives. The association does not have any facts to support it besides the fact that current Hitachi drive business was bought from IBM that had Deathstar fiasco many, many years ago. |
Damn, that does seem like a really good deal. My Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop came with an 80gb SATA HDD, and I'd like to upgrade it, but I just can't justify doing so (I don't really NEED it, I just WANT it.) |
poweruserx said:Clicking sound then failure in 4-8 months? No thanks, no way. Every hard drive brand/model has its lemons. This is a very highly rated drive and it performs well. I bought one when previously listed at BB (external DTG model) and have had no problems in my Thinkpad. |

prices on this item fluctuate. right now at zzf it's $79.99 - $20 rebate = $59.99 plus shipping fwiw i've owned and used the 100MB 2nd gen version every day over two years and have not had any problems. |
Also the 320GB model consumes less power, as per the specification on ZZF "Lowest power consumption — 22% improvement over 7K200" Hence I feel the 320 is a better deal tn69 said:The 7K320 320GB SATA II version is $69.99AR ($99.99-$30MIR) - basically $10 for an extra 120GB... |
