Next time I have a need to run a lightbulb -- and this is a spotlight by the way, not a normal lightbulb you might, say, put in a lamp or something, might want to put that in your title -- next time I want to run a spotlight 250 days straight, 24 hrs/day, I'll keep that in mind

I'll bring this up to my CO-OP board. We have about 12 lights each on 30 floors running continuously.
Of course they'll just waste any money they save on something else, so not much point on second thought.
Also, the light is closer to a 30 watt bulb than a 60 watt

On the other had might be good for me personally. Trying to run all my gizmos on a old 15 Amp circuit breaker is a challenge.
If I break down and buy the 50 inch plasma I'll have to sit in the dark with my current lamps.

Lightbulbs usually burn when you turn it on. Pretty much every lightbulb can run 250 days straight 24 hrs/day.

I think the point was that if you were running it all of the time, then this might be cost effective. If these blow out after six months of on off, then you are wasting your money. I think that 3 watts is a great idea though. Especially when the bulbs are under $5. I can wait.

I would highly recommend actually seeing the output of any LED bulb before I purchased it.
About a year ago I spend about $200 on a entire array of LED bulbs just to see how bright they were and how long they lasted.
All but the most powerful were barely useful in an indoor bay window, none of them were useful for lighting an actual room.

I love these energy saving technology but be careful before you plunk down your $20 for a light bulb.
CF's are very mainstream and still save a bundle at 1/10 the cost of LED.

Good Luck

I did the same thing. different bulbs have differen scales of the same name, color tempeture (as in white brightness light), Lumens, ..........

Unfortunately, everyone rates the LED bulbs differently and before you purchase one, make sure it is the correct color temp, (halogen is about 3400-4000k) and has enough lumens for the bulb you are going to replace. Here is a handy chart of lumens of many bulbs: chart

$19,99 for 1, after that $45 each...

I have been buying the $5 led bulbs from Wal-Mart.

from the website:

"Remark: Luminous flux is a quantitative expression of the brilliance of a source of visible light, which is electromagnetic energy within the wavelength range of approximately 390 nanometer s (nm) to 770 nm. This quantity is measured in terms of the power emitted per unit solid angle from an isotropic radiator, a theoretical point source that radiates equally in all directions in three-dimensional space. The more the luminous flux is, the brighter the light is. "

Anybody able to tell me what this is saying in English?

It's a great idea and a great product, BUT the price is still way up there.
