The price is back at $24.99, which makes me a little angry. I originally opted for In-store pickup but was sent a email telling me they did not have the item as advertised. So I had to create a new order and pay a extra $9.99 for 2nd day. Now I see the price has dropped from $29.99 to $24.99, as it originally was stated on this site. So all in all, I spent a extra $15. Needless to say, I fired out a email to customer service, but I doubt I will get anywhere. |

Just got mine last night and flashed DD-WRT. Overall, I'm not that happy. My old trendnet router which was $5 AR (stock firmware) gave me a 'very good' signal strength one floor away. This new WNR834B with power set to 70 gives me a signal strength of 'low'. WTF? Is it just because of the lack of external antennas? Also, why is this router so frickin huge? The build quality is really poor - it looks like a kit someone put together from Radio Shack. Also, I just read the Newegg reviews and am seeing lots of reports of routers dying. One guy had 4 out of 5 of his die within a few weeks. Another bought 3 and had 2 die. I'm hoping that since this is a refurb it was sent in broken and properly fixed. |

I flashed with std version. The free memory went from 1.2MB to 700KB in about 3 days. It even rebooted by itself once. secstate said:NJRen said:Has anyone experienced memory leak of dd-wrt on wnr834b v2?

Ok I am running the mini version and I do not use the firewall features (I use IPcop for that) and I haven't seen anything like what you saw (still 28% free RAM) |

Here's a simple article that tells you how to enable ad blocking via the router.... http://my.opera.com/LaurensB/blog/2007/11/19/howto-add-ad-blocking-to-a-dd-wrt-router I also note there is a new version of eko's dd-wrt firmware as of TODAY however the mini version is not yet there.

Got mine working! Nice! But it won't let my print server print, shows up and pswizard works but it won't print to it. Is there a setting in dd-wrt that needs set in mini to allow it? I have the computer on one of the four lans and the print server on another. Great deal! |

Anyone know which bin to use to get my wnr834bv2 to DD-WRT v2.4SP1 OPENVPN? Thanks [EDIT] Nevermind. Flashed it with the mini chk file in the wiki first and then upgraded to the latest (9/26/2008) OPENVPN build here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/others/eko/V24_TNG/svn10431/dd-wrt.v24-10431_NEWD_openvpn.bin |

i bought this router and flashed it to dd wrt v24 mini... i'm using a wireless G pci card to connect to it and it can't keep a steady connection. the router keeps rebooting every couple minutes. i googled it and other people have been having the same problem but there's no clear solution yet that i could find. anyone have any suggestions? is there another third party firmware which is as good as dd-wrt i could try for this router? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks. |

I'm hoping that since this is a refurb it was sent in broken and properly fixed. Yeah this looks like a POS. Way too many issues being reported for this router. |

Yeah this looks like a POS. Way too many issues being reported for this router. I must have lucked out then....the 834v2 runnning 10431 build has been rock steady for me...just added ad blocking and enabled QOS...no reboot issues and I'm very happy with it.

I found this timeline describing the updates made to the newest versions: DD-WRT Timeline It's Greek to me, but might be helpful to others. On that note, I've been a relative Luddite and stuck with the mini build of 9856 for my WNR834B. Are there any compelling reasons to update to a newer version? |

Which one are you loading cause I only see the .chk for our specific model and those of us already on dd-wrt will need the .bin |
