It seems that every once in a while someone posts a subscription deal for The Economist that draws substantial interest. Here is one that is quasi-permanent (has been active for well over a month now)

The Economist - 51 issues for $49.95

Note that this is technically a student rate, so to be legal you need a student in the house (though the student does not need to be reading it). I "subscribed" my daughter, she has no interest in the Economist, but I gave her our subscription to Time instead

Edit by Moderator: Thank you for participating in the forums. However, the link you provided benefited a site other than, or in addition to, the one making the offer. Please in the future provide the most direct link possible.

Note by OP: not sure what the moderator is referring to. As far as I can tell this is the most direct link possible. To those interested in the deal -- do NOT click on the Magazines.com FatCash link provided below. The price through Magazines.com is about 2x higher, even after 25% FatCash.

How do you order this magazine using miles? Can I use Delta, Frontier, or NWA miles?

Got it through 2015 @ 54 cents an issue with 70% CashBack from Magazines.com

If you can get this for under a buck per issue I'd load up though

Thought about subscribing but they have all of their articles online for free.
50 dollars is still too much for me

In for one. Good find. I was just hunting around yesterday for an Economist subscription. I hope we get the World in 2009 supplement.

Sounds like a decent deal.

How would they check if you're a student or an educator outside
of filling in the school name and such?

I would love to, but as far as I can tell this is the most direct link possible. The link to Magazines.com is incorrect, their offer on the Economist (and most everything else) sucks, even after 25% FatCash. What is the link I should have provided?

The Economist rocks.

I like to be able to check it out from the print edition too.

Lets you know just what is going on in the world and seems to be relatively unbiased.

thx OP, I don't have Continental miles, and this is cheaper than the other student rates I've used (~ $77/yr).

Is this true?

Is there a way to use AMEX Membership Rewards Points to get The Economist? I've tried to transfer them to a Delta SkyMiles account but it says my MR account is eligible to transfer points to a SkyMiles account. Any other ideas?
