One of the reviews at Buy.com states that "it appears to be a WD drive inside." Probably the WD Green drive if I were to guess.

For the original TiVo S3, it will work, more or less, plug n play(the TiVo os will configure).
For the TiVo HD, it(the Fantom drive) will work after being connected to a pc(along with the TiVo HD hard drive) and prepared for use with the TiVo HD, using the winmfs program found at mfslive.org. Do not be intimidated by the procedure. If you can connect a hard drive to a pc, and follow directions, the procedure is relatively simple. This technically(but not in reality) voids the TiVo HD warranty.
The only external drive that works in a plug and play fashion with the TiVo HD is the Western Digital My DVR Expander.

I'm guessing you have a HD/S3 TiVo if you are referring to e-sata....if that is the case, your answer is yes. However, it is not plug and play and requires a bit of configuring, although not a hard thing to do at all. This post has all the answers & instructions....

This is pretty good as the drive itself costs more than this. But it doesn't come w/ a eSATA bracket/cable which kinda puts it on par with the rest of the external deals.
Also, there seems to be 2 models for Fantom, one of which is a Green version. Makes me think that the drive in this one is not WD GP.

I received mine today and opened it up (requires peeling off a void if removed sticker) and the drive inside mine was a WD green version. As a side note, I downloaded the trial of Acronis ' Easy Migrate and cloned my 150GB internal C drive with XP onto this one and after 2 hours or so when it was done I just swapped the drives and it works great.
