even if it comes with ink, will this model eat up the ink? i've had bad experience with other model that self cleaning eats up the ink so i had to replace the cartridge every once while and machine did not work if one the ink is out
Dead. The link comes up with "Sorry, but no products were found." DOH!
I saw it last night at 1:30am and it showed as $39.95 before any rebates, but I had to wait until this morning due to banking issues, and it's not there anymore... DOH!

(1) Brother REfurb models I have bought in the past come with new sealed carts. I am guessing this will come with ink carts as well. (2) You need to keep the printer unplugged so that it does not 'eat' ink. (3) Brother printers start rejecting ink carts even when the ink carts have 15 to 20% ink left. Once the ink cart is flagged empty, you will not be able to print. You can use a black marker or black electrical tape ovr the ink optical sensor to work around this problem. (Search ggogle to find out where to apply the tape).

I have just set-up the printer and installed the appropriate drivers (Vista 64bit) downloaded from the Brother website. This is a newly purchased Factory Refurbished model purchased from FRYs Electronics. I am encountering the following problems:
1. On the LCD screen, it currently shows "Telephone" and I am unable to update the firmware, as the software does not believe the printer is "idle".
2. Also, the On/Off button is unresponsive. After holding it down for 1-2 secs, there is a beep from the unit but the printer never powers down.
3. Finally, the status monitor does not appear to work, as I cannot see the ink levels for any of the 4 cartridges. (The columns are grayed out).
Is anyone else encountering the same issues? Please help.
