Edit: $37 on the other hand, not too bad. BTW, anyone that didn't know, 9600 GSO just a rebadged 8800 GS.

Is dual slot better than single slot? Only advantage is overclocking?
ckportland said: Is dual slot better than single slot? Only advantage is overclocking?
Both require extra power connector, right?
Not much advantage to overclocking. Advantage really in most dualslot coolers is that heat is exhausted out of the case instead of back into the case. A lot of the dual slots are only aluminum versus copper or just aren't as effective as some of the single slot type coolers.
Should note that some dual slot coolers might have the larger metal bracket on them but don't actually exhaust directly through it.... i.e. MSI cards.
$36.99 AR and coupon, free shipping. Also, don't forget 2% (for now) FatCash or 3% MS Livecash for more off!

Use code HARDOCPVGA92920 for $20 off. Rebate also expires after today. Of course, that's $10 more than the original 9600GSO offer, and $23 more than with the current coupon.
Anyone know if the 9600GSO can use a DVI to HDMI adapter like the ATI cards? I just got my 9600 card from New Egg and could have sworn I saw this adapter in the picture.
Darn it, missed out on the coupon, ordered too early. At least I should be getting one though.

well the DVI-> HDMI may work for video but the question is probably the audio. Not all video cards will use DVI pins to put the audio out.
I'm talking an adapter on back of the card (DVI to HDMI) not a DVI to HDMI Cable. Will an adapter work with this card?

Got my card today, took it apart to apply some better thermal paste - no need. The stuff on there is more than good enough. Someone has already said, this is not an expensively made card but it does use good components. It looks like a 4 layer PCB, solid caps and the cooler is totally AL. The unexpected good stuff is 3 phase power and more expensive Samsung 1 ns GDDR3.
Looks like it will fit into my Shuttle SN25P SFF but a pretty tight fit.

I have the 9100z and I was able to fit the dual slot version of EVGA 9600 GSO in. So the single slot version listed in this thread should fit easily. With the 350 watt PS that's included with that PC, it seems to be running ok.
blomywhistle said: Will this fit my HP Pavilion Elite m9100z? (mobo specs)
Never thought I'd ask such a question, but there it is.
My crude measurements are too close to call, going by the official specs (PDF!!): height: 4.376in - 111.15mm length: 9in - 228.6mm

I should really get a new PSU; I replaced mine a while back with a 535W cheapo (AR) when adding a second tuner (AverMedia QAM M780) and 2 old HDDs.

It looks like a pain to replace the PS in it with the way the wires are set up. Did you have much difficulty? I have a 500watt lying around but haven't gotten around to it.

Did an quick OC last night w/o stress testing since that won't be my plan, used the eVGA utility, I went from default 550 to 675 MHz core and DDR3 from 800? to 1000 MHz with no effort. Just moved the sliders and clicked APPLY. Played some 1080P movies and everything seems fine. The fan stayed at 30% and the temp went up about 5 degrees. This has to be one of the best buys I have ever made.
I have the dual slot model.

I'm a noob with OC and temps. What temps are considered safe range? mine is around 58C w/o overclock and fan running at 55%. It's pretty cramped in my case though.

Me too but your temps are fine. Go to eVGA site and download the free utility. I believe Rivatuner can do that and more. Maybe there is a way to unlock more pipes too.
Also try to find a way to provide more fresh air/intake to the inside of your case.

The motherboard has a good layout so you shouldn't have any problems.
I moved the bundle of front-input cables out of the way to make some room and clean it up - there's a convenient hook/flap under the drive cages you can use.

opathal said: For those of you that missed out on the the other deal or are looking for a single slot solution. $89.99 -$40MIR = $49.99 + free 3-day ship
Please limit the comparisons to the other deal as that was indeed better, but this might offer a good alternative to those who didn't get in.
If you click on Combo Deals (view all), you will see there is a $50 discount on THISThermaltake Purepower 600W power supply. Since that power supply is $89.99 - $20MIR = $69.99, you get what looks to be a decent PS for the low low price of $19.99! No reviews on the PS though. Any input desired, didn't want to make another thread and get locked, but maybe someone can modify the title of this to include the PS deal.
