I couldn't get it to work this past weekend. I'll try again. I was also trying to use it on a registry item, could that have been the problem?

That was the problem. Going through the registry takes you to Macys.weddingchannel.com.

I was able to use the coupon on the regular Macy's site, and just didn't put in the registry information. The couple's registry won't be reduced by what I bought, but I bought something that wasn't on their registry in the first place, even though it was still in their china pattern. If you find yourself in a similar situation, be sure you know your giftee's address if you want it to go to them, then you can add a gift box, gift receipt & gift message in the checkout.

You can actually call the wedding gift registry and ask them to mark the item on the gift registry as "completed" or decreased by the number you bought. I bought off Amazon and called Macy's asking them to mark the item as completed and they did.

Good news. I called the 800 number that was came up with the error and Macys.com customer service was able to do the order for me and apply the 20%. Sweet.

Just tried. Told the cashier about it and got the 20% off. Didn't even require a Macy's CC.
