I was surprised to find this advertised Monday in the San Jose newspaper flyer. Supposedly it was only "released" for sale yesterday.

$69.99 - $15 "instant Savings" - $25 MIR - $20 Upgrade MIR.

Their ANNOYING TO ME Credit Card rebates which I always have less than a dollar left when I toss it out. Usual competing product proof required.

Available on Frys.com also. NIS 2009 at Fry's

Yesterday afternoon when I bought it there was no indication of being on sale on the shelves in the Campbell, CA Fry's store. I suspect there are a limited number in stock.

A friend of mine who got it a while back to test says it is the best he's used and he's been doing beta testing for a competitor.

Another option for NIS upgraders is to download NIS09 here:

http://liveupdate.symantec.com/upgrade/NIS09EN.exe

It will automatically uninstall old vs, upgrade to 09, AND keep current subscription.
Read more on this here Linky

I have ~100 days left and am gonna be patient till it's FAR.

Buy the NIS2008/Ghost14/PM8 combo pack FAR and download the NIS2009 from Symantec. You pay only shipping and get more softwares at a lower cost.

I used to use Norton all the time. Year after year, but even I got too sick of it eventually. Get something else that works better and isn't as much of a resource hog. Even free, I wouldn't bother with this, except for proof of purchase for an upgrade rebate for something else.

ps. though I seriously doubt it, 2009 MAY be a better product, but I'd have to see to believe it.

I'm still waiting for it to be free after rebate, which I know will happen at some point.
