Great torch for the money. This is the first time I had seen the 160 lumens model available on line anywhere. (They have two 80 lumens models that have been available since early August) The little gem I am talking about is model KDAY3DSC04L. It is a 4watt LED, utilizing 2 CR123 batteries (6volts total) Aluminum construction, and o-ring seal.

Link to Ace

This thing is only about 5.75" long, and the barrel is less than an inch in diameter, but it is BY FAR the brightest flashlight I have ever owned. It is WAY brighter than my brother's $149 Surefire E2D.
Surefire Website

And although the heft of my shiny Mag Light 2D is superior for use as a defensive weapon, it doesn't hold a candle to this thing in terms of a focused beam of light. (Actually, the Mag IS more like a candle.)

This post is not so much for the price as it is for the value. Highly recommended.

I've had this model for some time, and it IS very bright. I've got a load of flashlights here, and the only thing brighter than this is my Pelican 7060.

The Laser torch IS impressive, if you want 10 minutes of awesome power. The DayLite is still on the same batteries from last month...

The Pelican is yet another impressive light. My problem with the expensive ones is being afraid to lose them. (Too darn frugal)

Wonder how this compares to the Rayovac 4watter @ $24.99 and the Lowe's 3watter @ $29.99? Both are probably the brightest I have played with, with the Lowes one being the best Spotlight LED I have ever messed with.

Obviously this Duracell is a pretty nice size, but when talking best light output for a cheap price (around $30).

If you buy the pelican nemo 8c, that is the best flashlight you will ever buy. Waterproof down to like 100', rugged, trigger on/off. It is bright as hell! It shines a beam of light through the night. I have had it for over 2 years without having to change the bulb(knock on wood). That's the one I recommend, if you need a strong light.

BRIGHTER flashlights are available for less money with various Cree LED's. We're talking 200+ lumens.

Pelican 7060 is too big. I thought it was a baseball bat when I first saw it.

I have heard that you can't always depend on the lumens ratings that are reported in various vendor specs.

Flashlightreviews

Read the bottom of this site, where it says "The amount of output you get from an LED depends on the voltage and current it has access to. An underdriven 3 Watt bulb can easily put out less light than a properly driven 1 Watt bulb."

This Duracell has a 4 watt led, and is being driven by 6 volts, which seems to be a nice combination. (Still bright after playing with it for about 6 weeks, and after a good workout on a camping trip)

Youtube commercial on these

Do they really do spot to flood? Seems like most long throw lights are useless indoors because they don't do flood well.

To be honest, I do not see a huge difference between the flood and spot modes. It's all just BRIGHT

I read somewhere where it was a 3:1 ratio or something, but I don't know what that means.

I called Duracell recently to see what stores carry DayLites (The Duracell website has virtually no info. on them.) The guy said WalMart only carries the 80 lumens models. If you want the 160's you have to get them from Ace or TrueValue, but they are in limited supply right now and will not be widely available until after Christmas. He said Target will be carrying them also, but again, they are virtually impossible to find right now.

CR123 batteries are $8-$10 a piece around here, so you're looking at $16-$20 for a single change of batteries on this thing!

EDIT: DealExtreme has a 2-pack of no-name CR123s from Hong Kong for $3.61 shipped if you're willing to wait 2-3 weeks for shipping. That's much better than $16!

I can vouch for the Lowe's Taskforce 3w 2C cree. I have 6 or 8 and 1 in my office bag behind me along with the $20 3w Advanced Auto Parts 2C (non-cree). I bought Taskforce's all with $10 off $25 coupons. I couldn't find any of 4w 2c Rayovac in my area.

Is this Duracell Luxeon K2 or Cree? Also, next time someone is at Costco they ought to check on the model numbers in the Duracell Daylite two-pack they have there. I saw it at my local Costco last week, but don't recall the specifics....

I looked all over the internet, but could not find any info on the kind of LED this 4 watt is.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is the best way to post jpegs here? (Took some night pics vs. my Mag 3D)

That's quite a difference! Thanks for the pics (in the op there are now links to Mag 3D/Duracell Daylite comparison pics).

I would question a run time of 100 hours for the 4 watt, 150 Lumens Rayovac pushing only 4.5 volts.

Here are some realistic run times (continuous) using 3 watt, 80 Lumens LED's pushing with 6volts...

Compare with Surefire 6pLED and 6PD LED

Something doesn't add up...
