Why the red - because of the seller, or the drive itself?

Seems like that's a smoking hot price for a 1TB external. Haven't seen any 1TB external in that price range.

neither. the assumption inherent in the title that everyone will be eligible for the 8% off, when in actuality, very few will. As such, it shouldn't be included in the title given the very limited applicability to the general FW reader.

my hunch, anyway (didn't vote red, myself).

It's a repost of an earlier deal, but with an 8% off coupon instead of the 5% off coupon in the original deal.

What would happen if someone tried to use the 8% coupon, then didn't qualify? Would Buy.com just cancel the order?

Well, you're right, not everyone will be eligible. But anyone that semi-regularly follows deals would most likely know the 8% coupon is only for certain instances. Not saying you're wrong; I'm just saying, there have been a decent number of Buy.com deals going on that mention this 8% off coupon, and I think most people already know about it.

However, even $139-$20 rebate is a good price for a 1TB external. But now the rebate's dead, so I guess it doesn't even matter now
