dont wanna thread crap, definitely the best price around, but i would pass from previous bad experience with ChiefValue

3 months ago i purchased 3 samsung F1's from Newegg, and 3 from ChiefValue.com

i didnt test the drives (stupid) until i received the ones from Newegg, and after i got server shipped in.
i wish id done it earlier, but i made the mistake of assuming 'new' drives would be totally fine, i found that ALL of the CV drives failed samsungs diagnostic ECC test on the internal cache, while the Newegg drives passed with ease.

CV offers a 30 day return policy, that i didnt qualify for at this point, and they wouldnt budge on extension, even after pointing out it was a clear problem w/ a bad batch they had been shipped, they claimed they could do nothing for me. In the end they offered me a $10 discount on my next purchase. Not sure i will use it.

good deal OP thanks for post

Amazon is not in stock it states 2 to 5 weeks to ship. I have been waiting for almost 2 weeks for mine to ship! If you need it quick go with Newegg or cv. I had some gift certificates I wanted to use so I will continue to wait for mine.

Did you buy OEM or Retail? Retail is only 30 days, then after it's manufacturer. However"

"OEM items come with a 1 year warranty, unless otherwise advertised, directly by ChiefValue.com."

OEM, and thats why i was so upset, im going to call back today and see if i can get a different customer service person who can approve my RMA. thanks for the info Sheltem, i skimmed the policy, but didnt notice that part about OEM drives having one year replacments. I guess you cant trust cv's reps.

Funny you mention this, b/c Newegg owns ChiefValue.

You REALLY should enter the Serial Number into the Seagate Warranty checker.

I've NEVER heard of an OEM Seagate drive that does not come w/ the full 5 year warranty.

I think this is more a case of several different people here truly have ZERO CLUE about what they are talking about.

How carefully do they review these rebates? It sates not valid on OEM items.
